Going To Pot

I love irony. Today the front page of the Seattle PI carried a story of a massive marijuana growing operation in North Cascades National Park. $48 million worth of plants were seized. The growers had cleared pine forest, diverted a stream, built shelters and they even had a watering system with sprinklers! Amazing ingenuity. On the front page of the entertainment section of the same newspaper was an article about Cheech and Chong reuniting, other favorite pot head performers, and information about attending Seattle's protest turned festival, HEMPFEST! Now I am not a pot smoker, or grower, or promoter, but it's pretty clear that this is a good example of market economy. Where there's a market, there's a will, and where there's a will, there's a way.

  2. Kinda funny! I am surprised that the govt hasn't found a way to capitalize on it. They probably view it as opening Pandora's Box...

  5. Good grief!! In a National Forest, no less? I imagine that the charges were probably as great for clearing Pines off of a part of a National Forest as they were for growing pot, huh?

It certainly took ingenuity. I'm not sure if it also took courage or lack of intelligence to build your operation under the nose of the Forest Service.

Can you imagine how many happy campers there would have been if that part of the forest caught on fire? joke, joke...

  6. Oh yes, it does go on over here too. I think they even call it Hawaii Gold or something like that.

  7. Where exactly was this operation? The crime up there is most likely due to thelse operations. Seems it might have been spotted by panes and helicopters before now.
Guess it would be too easy to legalize it and bring it above ground?
    It is ironic Linda!
