Whidbey Weekend, Part I

After Labor Day, the beach is very quiet, silent enough to hear the birds, the flapping of the flags on the flag pole, and the surf on the bay when the cruise ships head north out of Seattle. We had a great weekend, combining late summer laziness and the busyness of chores to be done. The weather varied from sun to light rain to fog, clearing again to sun. At high tides morning and evening the lagoon mirrored the sky. Tom trimmed the new dock. He also refurbished the old picnic table.
We flew the team flag and I watched football.
The Seahawks won!
We also tended the garden, weeding trimming and editing.
Bees love the sedum flowers.
I don't know what this little guy is.
More pics tomorrow.

  1. What a lovely place to be in. Sounds as if you got chores done and then can sit back and relax. The gardens are just beautiful!

  2. I believe your little island is a paradise! Do you have a fireplace inside for those cold winter football Sundays? Do you go up there in the winter?
I'm loving that we have football to watch again. (Helps that the Ravens won last night, too!)

  9. It is always that back to school, back to work, end of the summer stuff to do. And it can be pleasant if we are the ones that don't have to go back to anything stressful. LOL
I believe your little flutterby is called a Woodland Skipper (Ochlodes sylvanoides). Somewhere in the Skipper family anyway.
You cabin garden is beautiful. Nice and free-flowing. The Sedum flower is beautiful close up. MB

  10. Goodness! Your flowers must be at their height of gorgeousness. I love the photo of the fog. I've always been fascinated by fog... unless you're driving in it.
