Moon Rise, Sun Set

We just keep rolling around here.

Sunday night we went to the stadium for another Sounders soccer match. It was a hot and muggy evening, with no breeze coming in over the sound.  Fortunately the team was hot enough to pull off a 2-0 victory over Huston dynamo, which puts the Sounders back on the top of the stats chart.

When we left the stadium, it was dark, too soon now, and the super moon was rising.
Monday was very hot, finally reaching 96° here at SeaTac.  Boiling potatoes and eggs for potato salad and doing laundry heated up the house, so by 11:00 I closed up the doors and windows and turned on the air conditioner to 75°.

We spent the afternoon reading and dozing until it was time to go to Tom's sister Jan's house on Henderson Bay for a family dinner.

Jan and Tom's brother Dave and wife Vicki were visiting from their home in Los Altos, CA.  We ate and visited and then posed for a group "selfie" using Dave's "selfie extender".
Back row, Tom Reeder, Jill Reeder Gibson, Mac Reilly, Vicki's brother.
Middle row: Jan's partner Ann, Linda Reeder, Ann Reilly, Mac's wife, Dave Reeder, Jan Reeder.
Bottom row: Vicki Reilly Reeder, Irene and Isaac Gibson

It was a bit cooler there, and clouds were moving in, setting up for a thunder storm later. After dinner we sat on the deck enjoying the sunset. Everyone had their cell phone out, taking photos, including me, of course.

It wasn't long after this that the first rain drops fell.  They turned out to be sparse, but broke up the party.  It was dark when we headed back home, with the night sky lighted up with streaks of lightning.

Today it is much cooler, and mostly cloudy, and as of late this afternoon we await the next thunder storm.  If only we could get some rain to go along with it.

  1. Linda, that last shot is really a keeper. I have not heard of a selfie extender...what will they think of next???

  2. I was thinking the same thing as Linda Kay. I've never heard of the selfie extender, but what a good idea.

These are really extraordinary photos, Linda. The family photo reminds me of the one we had taken when everyone was here.

The super moon was fun to see from our side of the ocean too. Your photo turned out a lot better than mine.

  5. I wish we'd get some real rain and not just these silly showers! At least it's not 96 any more. Looks like you had a great time with family as usual!

  6. I saw that family picture on Facebook and immediately recognized my pals Tom and Linda. Thanks for letting me know who everyone else is. I'm sitting here in the morning (Wednesday) listening to the rain. We're getting quite a bit! :-)
