Six Months

Today I had an appointment with my neurosurgeon.  It has been a little over six months since my spinal laminectomy and fusion surgery.

I had an x-ray and then a few minutes with Dr. Gala, who pronounced me good to go!

Except for the early digestive issues that come along with anesthesia and pain drugs, I have had an easy time with my recovery, and I am completely satisfied with the results of my surgery.

Tom took such good care of me during those first weeks when I couldn't put on my socks or tie my shoes.  But that stage passed quickly.

I itched to get out and garden before I could, but that too was gradually resolved.  I was walking distances and moving freely in a relatively short time.

Now I am back to completely normal activity,  but without the pain and tingling and nerve damage.

Yay, me!  Yay, medical advances!  Yay, good doctors! Yay, good health insurance.

  8. Linda, I have one of the neuro-guys from my back surgery in 2012. It was the best thing I've done for myself, and my recovery, like yours was fabulous. And for exercise, my Dr. says walk, walk, walk....it's the best. Glad you are recovering so well!
