The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

Here they are!  The tulip photos you have been waiting for!

We started out at Christianson's Nursery, a favorite stop in the valley, because a squall was still passing over and we chose the shelter of the green house to start out.  I'll show photos of this place in another post.

Across the road, the Roozengaard tulip fields were a blaze of color, so as the rain passed, we headed there for our first tip toe through the tulips.

Red and yellow tulips were planted around my favorite valley barn again this year.

The fields were muddy so I had on my muck boots for tip toeing.

Now we were really into it - the color, the beauty, the sky, the valley - the works!  It was time to head for the Roozengaard display garden.

This was on the outside, along the street!  Princess Irene tulips are just coming into bloom

Inside, the windmill centers the display, and inside the walled garden the color is overwhelming.

Outside the walled garden, the displays were backed by a field of just fading daffodils.

For those who have to wait for next week to see the show, I can assure you that there will still be lots of color.  Some tulips are just beginning to bloom.
We love this display garden, and for us, it is enough.  We skipped Tulip Town, and instead drove around the valley a bit more before heading across the channel and back to Whidbey Island.   Of course we found more fields ablaze.

I'll probably wait until next week to post photos of the nurseries and Whidbey Island exploration.  We've got a busy weekend coming up.

Happy Easter, Everyone!  May there be blooming beauty for your Spring Fest too.

  10. Eye popping color! It's been years since I've been up to see the tulips. Since I have spring break next week maybe this will be the year. Remember when the Puyallup/Sumner valley was filled with daffodils in bloom? Sad that those farms are all gone now.
