The Wolfe Garden

The first thing I noticed in the Wolfe garden in Edmonds was how the purple house set off the plants in the front of the house.
 Then you notice the plants.

Chris is a tree guy, and he has many rare and unusual ones.

Of course Mother Nature planted the huge cedar tree that anchors the back yard.

This garden is Chris's retirement project, and to form it he hauled in 50 tons of rock and gravel.

Chris is not the only gardener here though.  His granddaughter has her own style, and I hear she also loves to spread compost!

  2. What an accomplishment this is! Yes, it is interesting how the color of the house really affects the depth and dimensions of the plantings. What an eye he has!

  7. The Wolfes' purple house is very well matched with their front garden. And the rest is beautiful as well, so peaceful. Kids love color, don't they?

  12. Beautiful garden. But the kid is having great fun now and will automatically grow up to be a great gardener.

  13. I love the purple. The entire garden is a sight to behold.

Do you know what that tree is with the strange papery bark? I am working on a post from a garden we toured in Salt Lake City. I was fascinated by the same type tree.

  15. I would have never have thought of painting a house purple but it really works. That fellow sure believes in heavy lifting.
The papery bark tree also caught my eye and I loved the faux stream in the last picture. Granddaughter has great promise.
