The Reeder Garden

With all of this garden posting I've been doing lately, I decided it was time for an update on my own.  So this is how I started my Sunday morning on this last day of May.

Camera in hand, let's take a walk.  We'll start on the patio, where we have been spending several hours each afternoon during this warm weather.

Our collection of fancy succulents keeps growing. Since they don't need much water, their pots don't need to be hooked up to the drip system like the other pots here do.  The little blue bird was a gift from Isaac for Mother's Day. The peacock in the tree pot above was from Irene.
The rose garden and the "snake bank" ( yes, we saw a snake there once a long time ago and the name stuck) are looking lush right now.  The native fox gloves sort of plant themselves.

Across the back of the upper yard, under the tall fir trees, light leafed plants light up the shade.

I noticed a squirrel picking apples from the espaliered trees yesterday. We might get a few for ourselves.

Down in the lower yard somehow the plantings that seemed so sparse a month ago have exploded.

The vegetable and cut flower garden is finally taking off.

This is the bed where we removed the rose tree. We weren't sure we would have enough plants to fill it.  Ha!

Now let's go down the path to the garden deck.

The rhododendrons are just finishing up down here.

Around in the front of the house, Tom's fancy leaf geraniums that he raised from cuttings are filling out their pots.

On the west wall of the garage the tomatoes raised from seed are taking off.
And in front of the greenhouse, the first Asiatic lily burst its bud.
Yes, June is busting out all over.

  3. So beautiful! Everything in your garden is so lush and colorful. You must be watering it some, your Impateins omeiana is looking good. Mine hasn't been watered as much as it would like, and it's very wilted.

  5. Good gosh! Your garden was gorgeous when we saw it in April, but it's truly burst forth in lushness and beauty. Absolutely amazing! Now I wish we could see your garden in all the seasons. I need to take my iPad down to show mom. She'll be blown away.

  20. You have a lovely large yard and gardens and I like the small color areas near your patio. I am going to buy a patio umbrella for our patio table; I see that you have two.
