Final Sounders Season Match

The attendance was 55,435 last night at CenturyLink field as we joined our fellow soccer fans for the last match of the regular season.

Since this is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we were honored by the presence of a legion of breast cancer survivors who to took the field for the pregame festivities.

The rain began about the same time as the match, and out in the unprotected seats, the green ponchos popped out.  We are ever so happy to be sitting up high and dry these days instead of over there.
The players marched onto the field as the crowd chanted.
The National Anthem was performed by rock guitarist Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, one of Seattle's own grunge bands.
The Emerald City Supporters unfurled their tifo honoring their 10 years as a supporter group, and the memories of fallen members.
At first kick, we upper deck folks sent our streamers into the air, then settled in to watch the soccer action on the field.

And plenty of action there was right away, as the scoreboard shows - 2-0 in the first 11 minutes!
The Sounders went on to win the match 3-1, and because of that victory, we'll be back on Wednesday for the first round of the playoffs!

  1. Well, congratulations to the Sounders! It's just great that soccer has taken off the way it has in Seattle. And you have something to do with that, Linda! :-)
