I'm A Winner!

Last Wednesday I had lunch with some of my retired co-workers from McMicken Heights Elementary. We met at ACME Bowl, where we could have space for our table of nine, and hear each other's conversations.

However in the middle of lunch there was a very loud announcement notifying us that we were attending the 10th birthday party of the bowling alley/restaurant! Who knew?

As we visited, an employee came around to distribute tickets for the prize drawing.  We dutifully filled them out, thinking we might win a few lines of bowling.

We ended up spending nearly three hours there, visiting and eating complimentary birthday cake! During that time, one of our group won a prize drawing, a $50 gift card for Macy's. Cool.  Real prizes, even!

Shortly before we left an employee came around again with a few more tickets so I filled out three of them.

Tom and I made some stops on the way home, and when we finally got home, I found a message on my home phone.  I had won a prize and needed to call in to claim it.

I did. They sent the prize to me in the mail, and it arrived on Friday, a $50 gift card for Best Buy!  Since I never win anything, it felt great to be a winner for once!

I'm sure we'll have no trouble spending it.

  5. I would have been equally as shocked as you to win something. There are some neat things for $50 at Best Buy, although most things are much more expensive.
