Just watching It Rain

We are so tired of the rain.

We tried to get outside this morning to begin the clean up after the latest big wind storm. We got the larger branches and boughs picked up, but the continuing squalls just kept marching across the March sky. It made me think of the opening lines to a John Denver song. "I'd rather be outside. Here I am inside, watching it rain".

I guess I should just put this album on the stereo and dance. Maybe that will take care of the itch to be working outside.

But it won't get the clean up done.
You can see how messy it is out there. The patio hasn't been dry enough to clean off for a month. Cedar tree cones and pollen and twigs have created a layer of goo. The cat refuses to walk on it.

We have been planning our days based on the weather forecasts. Weather Underground  gives us current satellite maps of the immediate weather and the what's-coming-up-next weather. It's not pretty for the rest of today or tomorrow.

But Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and maybe part of Saturday, the sun is supposed to shine. We sure hope so. Wednesday we'll be working in our yard. Thursday we'll clean up the garden at the Whidbey cabin and Friday/Saturday we'll work in Jill's yard.

Oh please, let it happen.

  1. I think we have a break coming up in all our wet weather, Linda. I sure hope so, too! Rain is one thing but nonstop rain is quite another. :-(

  2. Just read Portland has had 30 inches of rain since Dec. 1, normally has around 15 I think. Daughter here from Texas remarked yesterday the sidewalks here are slick. She understands now why I fear falling on these sidewalks that have been wet for so long. It's that time of year when we wonder if we will ever see spring.

  5. I like the idea of your dancing to some music, but I do understand that itch to get a mess cleaned up. My sister (in VT) said she has already raked her yard. That is wicked early for winter cleanup, but I understand this was the winter that wasn't and the VT ski areas are suffering.

  6. You yard shows the love and work you put into it, even in the rain.

  7. It seems to me that last year at this time people were worried about being dry . Sometimes it is hard to sit in and watch it rain when you have things you'd like to do.

  8. Been very wet and windy here in E WA too. Branches down everywhere. But...the forecast for Wed and on is sunny, may it be so for you too. Things are growing like crazy.

  9. We just got out of the week of rains and wow is it nice. Sure makes you appreciate a sunny day. Now all I have to do is pick up all the sticks. Looks like you have that ahead also.

  12. Then again rain is what keeps your area looking so beautifully green.
