It's Just Me

It keeps trying to snow on this blustery Monday afternoon. It won't amount to much, but it is annoying. We are ready around here for some warmth!

I was doing some sewing - making a pillow cover from a little project I found in my unfinished stuff box. Using the cutting wheel, I sliced off a tiny bit of my finger. It won't stop bleeding, so I am applying pressure. I gave up sewing and am trying to type. Lots of correcting. That was a dumb thing to do.

This weekend we celebrated Jill's 44th birthday. Well, on Saturday, March 4th, her actual birthday, she and the kids celebrated. She went around all day collecting and eating free food.

Did you know that if you "join" certain business rewards plans, you can get free stuff on your birthday?  Jill had two breakfasts, one at Denny's and one at IHOP.
This was one of them. All day long she posted her eating marathon on Facebook.
BIG frappe from Starbucks.

There were tacos for lunch from Jack-in-the-box.
 An afternoon snack.
Dinner was take out from Red Robin, so she could watch the opening match of the Sounders season.
And there were free cinnamon breadsticks From Pizza Hut.
Jill is not a cake eater, so I usually bake her a pie. Her favorite is cherry pie, and that's what we took over to her house while she was out eating. They topped the day off with pie and ice cream.

Sunday the family gathered at Bahama Breeze for more eating. There were fun drinks for some.

I started back on a weight loss campaign last week, so I resigned myself to cautious eating, but I did sample each of these desserts.

Other than eating, or in my case, not eating, I have been posting photos on Facebook. About two weeks ago I participated in posting one nature photo a day for seven days.
When that ended, I figured Facebook could use more pretty pictures, so I have been having fun going back into my photo archives and finding photos to post. Here are a few.

And for Jill's birthday, I posted this one of her hiking at Mount Baker last summer.
Well, the sun is shining now, for the moment, it's 36 degrees, brrr, and my finger seems to have stopped leaking with a compression bandage on it. I think I'll go read until it's time to cook dinner. Tom gets a pork chop. I don't.

  1. What a fun eating marathon for the birthday girl. Love that you make her a pie. I don't know anyone who does pie on birthdays.

  2. What a way to celebrate eating all day! No pork chop for you...that is sad...you need some protein! When you get Spring weather send it this way :)

  4. i'm enjoying the pretty photos you post everyday. Keep it up. Jake looks like he's lost weight, or was that Jake? I've kind of fallen in a well.Trump's Saturday tweets and all that followed have just about been my undoing. I've got to shake this off and get on with life. Susan flies in on Thursday for a week. Perhaps that will cheer me up. I did not have a good week with Old Husband. Her presence will be much appreciated. We also had a little snow this morning.

    1. Yes, that is Jake. He is very careful about his eating habits these days.
I find I am still wanting to keep up with the DJT news, but not nearly as intensely. We can't live on the edge all of the time.

  5. I still don't understand how Jill can stay so slip when she eats like that. Maybe it's because she's young and active. I shudder to think what the scales would tell me if it were my day's intake! :-)

  8. Happy Birthday to Jill! She is so pretty! I can not picture her eating so much! Sure hate you cut your finger. That's the kind of cut that hurts too, slicing a piece off. I get so tired of dieting! I lose ten pounds and slowly, at least slowly, gain it back. Right now, the ten pounds are back and I can't get in the right frame of mind to lose them again. Good luck!

  9. Jill only eats like that once a year, on her birthday!
(She's my mountaineering partner -- I took that Baker shot! -- so I'm well aware of what awesome shape she keeps herself in: also recall that she's now a Physical Education teacher...!)

    1. Welcome to my blog! I don't know you, and I don't know if you will come back to find this reply, but you are exactly correct. She does eat this way only one day of the year.
And thanks for the great photo!

    2. Actually you do, but maybe not by my internet handle! I'm the guy that helped tear down the old hot tub building...!

    5. :-) Heh, and the one who got the rental truck stuck when we were knocking down the hot-tub house! I have commented previously on rare occasions, most recently on the helpful advance info on the Arrival movie...!

  10. I'm watching what I eat these days too, especially since I'm getting my blood tested next week, but I sure did enjoy seeing all the treats Jill was having. I could live through her vicariously.

  12. I loved the way Jill celebrated. That is great. I was struck by how grown-up Irene is beginning to look. Also, I really liked the lovely bowl that Jill received.

I've enjoyed your photos on FB. I hope you can get back to sewing soon.

  13. Interesting how many eateries offer birthday rewards! It has to be pretty hard to watch all those desserts without partaking! Hope you are rewarded with quick weight loss. I know that a few extra pounds makes a big difference on things like back strain, leg strain, etc. Your flower pictures are beautiful, as usual!

  14. nothing like slicing off your finger tip to avoid sewing...lol! Spring will come!

  15. I didn't realize that those cutting wheels were capable of slicing off the end of a finger.
I'm always hoping to lose a few pounds but never seem to stick with it. As a vegetarian I do okay on main courses but it's those sweets that I must have ( I do bake as low fat, low sugar as I can).
