Remembering Mother

This is what I posted on Facebook today. I thought some of my non-FB blogging friends might like to see the photos.
++++++++++++++++++++++++
Remembering my mother. The first photo was taken in 1945, when my mother Violet was the mother of just two, my big sister Ilene and me. Eventually there were seven of us for her to mother.

The second photo was taken in 2011, when Jill, Isaac and Irene were with us to visit my mother in her assisted living home. By then she was still mother to five, grandmother to many, great grandmother to many more, and great great grandchildren were arriving.

Mother was 89 that summer, and passed away that fall, leaving a big hole in our very large family. We all still miss her.

Yesterday we spent the day with our grandchildren. I'll post more about that later. But here they are.
They are growing up.

Happy Mother's Day to all who have mothers!

  9. Your mother must have been a stellar person to have created such a dynamic and beautiful daughter! It's sweet to remember our mothers, living or not, on this day. Hope you enjoyed your mothers day!

  10. I'm grateful I still have my mom who does share her name with your mother. Mom will be 88 years old this year which is supposed to be a big thing in Japan. We haven't figured out how to celebrate yet. I know how well loved your mom was. I can imagine what pleasure she took in knowing what smart beautiful descendants she would be leaving behind to follow after.
