Vegetables?

 Vegetables on a Christmas tree?

Well, yes, here at our house there are vegetables on our Christmas tree.

This weekend we finally finished our decorating. We got both trees up and decorated. We started with the Travel Tree because if was smaller and therefore easier. So many memories of places near and far.

Then we got going, and going on the big tree. There are collected ornaments from our 55 years of married life, and especially when our kids were little. But then as empty nesters we started going on those field trips to Christmas shops, many of them in nurseries, and what caught my eye? Well, besides Santas, it was garden stuff, and especially vegetables.

Broccoli
/Cabbage
Tomato. I know, it's really a fruit.
Potato
Turnip
Carrot
Corn
Cauliflower
Asparagus
Green pepper
Red pepper, and an acorn
Celery
Avacado, Yes, another fruit.

And new this year, because somebody realized you can't have a garden here without it, ZUCCHINI!

I may have missed a few. And there are fruits too.

And now that the decorating is done and the house work and laundry are done for another week, it is time to start baking.

Happy Holidays!

  2. Fun veggies! Do you have a Christmas Pickle? Everyone liked searching the tree for ours:) Have fun baking! I may make some pumpkin bread Up North when we get there late next week. The Grands and the Greats all like it so much. I sent some with them all at Thanksgiving and I doubt it lasted more than a day or two.

    1. I do have a pickle. I guess I left it out of my photos. I don't even bother to really hide it anymore since my kids and grands have no trouble finding it No little around these days.

  3. Well, I was a little stressed for a few minutes. I wondered if you were losing it when you put vegetables on your tree. Then I saw what you were doing. It's very attractive.

  6. Both of your trees are beautiful. In the Netherlands I saw vegetables and fruits tree decorations very fashionable! And all sorts of food I got cakes, orange, artichoke and a plate with Dutch specialties. I am copying ! I found the travel tree idea very interesting, my son has got one. Nice decoration!
