Jill and Isaac and Irene had for many years flown to Colorado to be with her inlaws, the other grandparents, and related cousins. A move to Nebraska made travel too distant and Jill and the kids needed a replacement. They chose Whidbey.
We assembled at tne cabin and a rented house annex, took walks as the sun set, had a mac and cheese super, and played games.
Thanksgiving morning was cold and clear.
Jill was used to doing most of the cooking in Colorado and announced that she would be doing the same now, with just a little help. I had made the pies, Jan was in charge of the yams and some of the hors d' oeuvres, and Tom was in charge of cooking/smoking the turkey.
We had time to go for walks and have a cribbage tournament.
Then it was time to get serious about eating. Tom carved the turkey.
The sunset filled the sky with atumnal colors.
The table was set and ready.
There was a warm glow both outside and inside, as we shared good food and thoughts of thankfulness.

Jill did a wonderful job of cooking and coordinating everything. It was a very good Thanksgiving, which continued into Friday with a little local shopping, more eating, and sharing.
Tom and I are home now on this Friday evening, content and ready to make lists of what's next.
Looks like a wonderful time with your family. A very picturesque spot to enjoy your Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving! Looks like a great meal! I was too Busy to take photos of ours...I did take a photo of baking the days before. I had to smile as Colorado and Nebraska are right next to each other, but Nebraska is not nearly as scenic as Colorado...nor can you ski in Nebraska!
ReplyDeleteJill is a super woman to do the cooking for Thanksgiving! She is a chip off the old block. Very nice gathering!
ReplyDeleteThe food looks wonderful, the scenery fantastic, and the people look happy. What more could a person want!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it was a wonderful time, and plenty of family to make up for those in other celebrations. Thanks for all the great photos.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome, Linda. I wish my daughter were here to cook the turkey. Oh wait. She doesn't like turkey and has never roasted one. Ahhhh well.... OK. (Wait a minute. She was on a cruise during Thanksgiving and said the turkey meal was wonderful.)
ReplyDeleteAnyway... I wish my son were here to roast the turkey.
It's so cool that you have a family get-a-away cabin where you can have these fabulous parties.
Beautiful scenery, you are lucky. The food looked very good and it is a nice family gathering and photo. I am waiting for your Santas collection now that thanksgiving is over 😂
