Out With The Old

It was very dark and rainy today, one of those PNW January days that hover around 42 degrees and no one wants to be outside.

After our Zoom meet up, we spent most of the rest of the day changing phone service.

We decided to take Xfinity up on their offer of free cell service for a year and to stop paying for things we don't need.

So we dumped our land line and our home security service.

We have a basket full of stuff to dispose of. The security monitor has to go back to Comcast.

We might miss the land line at first, but we hardly ever used it. Then we switched cell service from T-Mobile to Xfinity. That seems easy, and we get a free year of service. After a year it will still be much cheaper. We'll wait longer to upgrade our iPhone 12s. We have a streaming package for Netflix, Apple TV, and Peacock that we'll have to check out when we turn the TV on.

Then I spent the rest of the day notifying people via email of the change in contact phones. Too bad there isn't a "change of address" for phones.

Now I have just enough time to play Wordle and Connections before I get supper on.

I made a resolution to post on my blog more often. Can you tell? Do you wish I hadn't?

miss it. At least my cell phone I can shut off!

  4. I am one of the few people in the world that doesn't have a cell phone - don't need it as no one wants to know where i am anyway! We have a land line - convenient when the power goes out and we can see who is calling and not answer. Different situations for different people.

  5. Shortly after I retired, I got rid of the landline as there were few calls from anyone other than the scammers and sales pitches. More recently I switched from cable to streaming, and I do miss some of the cable programming that isn't available on the streaming services I've got. But, we were recently able to bundle a few streaming services together, which is reminiscent of cable bundles. It was also less expensive that purchasing the streaming services separately.
I love the photo of the robin in your header!

  6. I am in the process of changing my cell phone number. It is VERY time consuming and on certain websites there are verification methods that are a pain but necessary. It is easy to do a change of email address, but phone numbers? Just a bunch at a time.
Other than that I am really looking forward to a better year for everyone. Great and Wonderful New Year!

  7. When we moved friom Coiorado in 2007, we ditched our landline and haven't missed it at all. I think you'll be happy with your new setup.
