We live on a hill about 500 ft above sea level. That's just enough elevation to give us snow at 32 degrees. That's what we woke up to this Friday morning.
Because nothing was frozen, the snow turned to shush when it was driven on, so driving wasn't bad and we made it to breakfast in Des Moines, where it is at sea level and there was very little snow.
We celebrated an early St Patrick's Day.Jan brought the table decorations.
But it never stopped snowing! It's a good thing it stayed just above freezing or by now, after 5:00, we would have 6-8 inches of snow.
Don't stand under trees or you might get great big plops of wet snow on your head or down your neck. But while it was accumulating, it was very pretty.
We made it into the city for my finger physical therapy with no trouble, then to the Safeway for grocery shopping. The parking lot was slushy/messy, but we managed.
Now Tom has mastered installing some new electronics.
I guess I should get some dinner cooked.
It was a productive day.
And it's still snowing!

That's a lot of snow. My favorite is the mechanical tall windmill sculpture with all of the snow. Be careful out there. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteWhen the snow sticks to the trees and everything else it becomes quite beautiful. You don't have to shovel because it melts quickly.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your snow!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! Almost like Ansel Adam's black and whites - but you have spots of color.
ReplyDeleteIt is raining on and off here, at times very hard, and at times very windy. We were out of power for several hours in the afternoon into evening so I slept very early - at 7:00 pm! Amazing how much we depend on electricity to power our devices and machines.
Very pretty but rather inconvenient. You seem to be managing quite well.
ReplyDeleteLinda, I find snow really pretty, but don't want to be out in it. Glad you were able to get to all your errands safely.
ReplyDeleteHere in Kansas City, we woke up to less than an inch. Unfortunately, we are heartbroken. It was 63 yesterday morning and 11 today. Another night of this, then in the 70's by Wednesday. The last year this happened, plants never fully recovered.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I remember having snow on my birthday in April a lot of snow ( a long time ago!) Happy Saint Patrick’s!
