We worked hard in our Whidbey Island garden on Wednesday, getting the weeding done. We were tired and sore. But Thursday morning we ventured on. We packed up and headed north up-island to the Skagit Valley. There we stopped for a visit at Christianson's Nursery.
The sun was shining and Mt Baker was glowing in the distance.
Then we went on to Roozengaarde and their wonderful display gardens.
It was lunch time, and there were swarms of people so we waited in line for our hotdogs and chips. Everyone was in a good mood and we shared tables with friendly people. In the display gardens everyone was taking photos so I worked to get a few without too many other tulip admirers in the frame.
Here we go, with very little commentary.
Still lots more tulips to bloom in the rest of April. Many of the fancy daffodils were still in bloom.
Glowing in a sunbeam.
We were both tired by now so we didn't venture out into the fields with the rows and rows of different colored tulips. We briefly checked out the gift shops, but by then we were done navigating in crowds.

Thank you for this beautiful post. I have always wanted to go there and see the tulips in the spring, but I am not heavy traffic driver. The photos you took are gorgeous and I'm so glad that you went and took the time to take pictures as well. Like I said I'm not a heavy traffic driver. I've had my car 3 years now and just turned 7,000 miles on it. When I went in to get an oil change the mechanic thought there was something wrong with my odometer. This can't be right he said and I laughed and I said yes it's right I'm the little old lady that maintains her car to the point where it's the used car that one day everybody wants. Very low mileage.
ReplyDeleteAgain thank you so much for these beautiful photos I really enjoyed taking the tour with you, through your blogging pages.
God bless you and have a wonderful weekend.
Gosh... I remember being there with DJan in 2015. You and DJan had warned us that we needed to come more quickly or we would miss the spring flowers. Thank goodness we made the flight changes and came when we did to see all those gorgeous spring blooms. And then we got to see more gardens with you. What a fabulous trip that was!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of DJan when I saw these photos. I hope she feels like going this year--flowers could bring a little joy.
DeleteThank you for this post. I loved meeting you and showing you springtime in the PNW. I too hope DJan gets to enjoy the gardens.
DeleteBeautiful pictures!!!
ReplyDeleteStunning fields of flowers! I love the blue rivers in the landscape. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful Colors! Like in the Netherlands parks !
ReplyDeleteIn Keukenhof when we went there. Would love to go again
ReplyDeleteThe tulip displays are amazing! I must add Skagit Valley to my bucket list. Thanks for sharing the photos.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Tulips are so colorful. We're headed to The Netherlands on Tuesday. Hoping the tulips there are blooming.
ReplyDeleteWe have been to Keukenhof Gardens in the Netherlands. It was amazing. Timing should be about right.
DeleteImpressive grounds of flowers and so well maintained! I do hope they charge a price for admission because I cannot start to guess the number of employees they need to keep it in its top shape.
ReplyDeleteYes, they do charge a modest admission. But this is a display garden just for the spring bulbs, which they grow and sell. It's really advertising. Once the bulbs are mature, they are harvested along with the bulbs in the growing fields. The display is replanted every year,
DeleteSo beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteEvery year you remind me of our trip to the Skagit Valley tulip farms. We came via the ferry south out of Victoria and round over several of the islands. It was spectacular!
