April Flowers

This Amaryllis bulb was a Christmas gift. Tom has been growing it in his greenhouse, and now it is emerging as the most beautiful red! There is a second bud stalk coming when this one is finished with it's show.

The camellias are finally starting to bloom. This one is from my mother's garden. So long ago now, Tom took a cutting of it from the farm in Oregon, so it is a treasured plant.
As you can see, I have decorated for Spring/Easter. I'll post more decorations later, but if you remember, you will see that they are the same year after year.
The roosters came from Sweden and the chickadee bell came from Concord, Mass. Those were from trips way back in the days when we traveled, but they hold memories.

I am hoping to get outside on April 1st. I am still having a lot of trouble staying upright and dealing with various pains, so let's hope the April Fool doesn't mess with me.

Happy April!

  4. Happy April, Linda! Your flowers are beautiful. We have a treasured plant too... it's a night blooming cereus. We get cuttings from family and repot them. Love these plants... the aroma when blooming is heavenly. Even our cats would gather round them when they bloomed.

  8. It’s so lovely to read about your plants blooming. The red Amaryllis sounds stunning, and how special that the camellia is a piece of your mother’s garden. It must be like carrying a piece of her with you every time it blooms. I really like how you’ve decorated for Spring, and the memories attached to those roosters and the chickadee bell are so sweet! I hope April 1st treats you kindly and that you get some time outside to enjoy it all. Take care of yourself, and happy April to you too.

  9. Getting over stuff is just harder as an old person, I'm afraid. I stayed home once again from the Senior walk. I did get about three pain free miles in anyway. I love your flowers, and thanks for identifying that plant for me!
