HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!

This hydrangea kind of reminds me of a "bomb bursting in air", one of those lovely fireworks that will be exploding all over the country this evening.
Yesterday we went garden touring in the Gig Harbor area. We took along four guests, including Tom's sister, who lives there. It was a fun day with beautiful gardens, beautiful scenery, good company, and the sky even cleared for a while.
Today will be a quiet day here. I've made potato salad and we'll have a BBQ for two. We'll watch a Sounders match on TV this evening and then, if it isn't raining, we might go to a local fireworks show. Here in the City of SeaTac, fireworks are banned except for public shows.
I really would like the blue of red, white and blue day to be in the sky here today. I can hope!
BTW, I love the GOOGLE logo this morning!

  1. We will miss them....I think, as we have a committment elsewhere. Still, I am grateful to be here no matter the lack of fireworks.

Again, your secret garden is the best of all.

  2. Up here in Bellingham it is cloudy and windy, very much discouraging any early outdoor activity. And with a 50% chance of rain, I'm happy to be inside warm and snug, on the Fourth of July! I love your "exploding" hydrangea!

  3. Love your hydrangea! And it does look like a "bomb bursting in air"! Hope you have a great day! Here in Ballard it is chilly, gray, glum, but who knows we may get a little sun later on like we did yesterday. It was beautiful! Enjoy!

  4. Yes, the hydrangea is beautiful.

Blue skies and sunshine in Hawaii right now. There will be public firework shows in several spots on the island of Oahu, but David and I won't be there. Our attitude is: If you've seen one fireworks, you've seen them all. LOL.

  5. Gorgeous Hydrangea! My daughter gave me a white one a couple of years ago that has like bursts of white flowers. It hasn't bloomed again, but I have hope, because my aunt sent me a picture of hers that just bloomed after 5 years.

  6. I think that is what they call a lacecap hydrangea and I have one that is similar to this one. I'll have to post it this week. Never thought of it has fireworks exploding but that is a good description.

Also, my niece's oldest son is doing an internship this summer in Seattle (Bellevue). I think he likes Washington State and the new friends he has made but I can tell that he misses his folks flat Ohio farm land and the warmer temps. Sometime it is hard to really realize how different weather is in various parts of the US. We are burning up here in Virginia. Lots and lots of 90 degree days already this summer.

  7. I checked out google and got a chuckle at their creative animation. Hope you have some sun to enjoy to your bbq. We had homemade pizza indoors as it's over 100 degrees outside.
