Spring is Relentless

Spring is unpredictable.  For the last two years Spring has been cold, and late.

So this year we thought is would be just about right to show off our tulips if we hosted the April garden club meeting on April 27th.

But Spring makes up her own mind, and when she decides it's time, Spring is relentless.
Three days ago there was hardly any color on these buds.  But suddenly, it's tulip time!

I hope there's something else blooming by April 27th, because I'm thinking tulip time might be over.  But it will be glorious while it lasts.

I other parts of the garden, the earliest trilliums are going purple, while others are just opening pure white.

The magnolia stellata has popped it's buds too.

The burst of beauty is upon us.

  1. Do you ever go in the house these days? I might have to camp out there with those tulips.

  2. Beautiful! Our tulips are in full bloom, the trees are budding and the apricot tree is starting to bloom. We've fertilized and mowed the lawn for the first time this season...and today we ran the sprinklers. I'm so glad that spring is finally here.

  6. I'm going off to the Skagit Tulip Festival on Monday! Your beautiful pictures show how wonderful our spring really is. I look forward to my first wild trillium. Today we head to Mt. Erie and hope the rain waits a bit to come visit us. :-)

  7. Oh, my those tulips are so gorgeous. They may be gone by your garden club meeting, but I am quite certain that you will have something else on display for everyone to enjoy.

  9. Tulips in Hawaii cost $13, so naturally, hubby always buys the mums at $9.

Here is MD, the daffodils are blooming, and maybe a few intrepid forsythia, but it's been so cold. Soon...

  11. Wow you have lots of blooms in the garden. Our Tulips popped open all at once too. I do hope something is left by April 27th. LOL!!
I just hope the rain in the Valley doesn't ruin the Tulip display too fast. I need more pictures. MB

  12. Beautiful tulips and gardens! Don't feel bad for us snow bound people who are still in winter. I will enjoy each and everyone of your photos..Bleeding Hearst are one of my favorites..mine froze out. They only can take Minnesota winters for so long and then you must replant them...and deer well they ate all my tulips years ago:)
