Now I am trying to establish a routine of icing and elevating, walking and PT exercise, and resting. Because I have problems with anesthesia I had a spinal block and because I have similar trouble with opioids, I am trying not to use oxycodone. I have a nerve block catheter in my leg and have to wear a little "purse" with a tube that delivers the solution to the catheter in my thigh. That will last for four or five days. All of this is supposed to be in conjunction with a pain regimen that relies on oxy though, and since so far I have only taken one oxy pill, I have pain when I move around. I think I can tough it out. At least my gut isn't cramping.
Probably more that you need to know.
This is only the second day so we have more hurdles to overcome, but Tom and I are a team and we'll get through it.
You look pretty vertical and jolly for just one day after surgery. Wow! Just be careful walking around. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteIt is truly amazing that surgeries like this are done outpatient. Good luck with the healing process.
ReplyDeleteI am glad it is over with and now you can recover! Tom takes such good care of you!!
ReplyDeleteYou know the situation well and are working hard at recovery. I hope all gores well. the amazing thing today i that you go home the same day as the surgery.
ReplyDeleteLInda, it looks like you are recovering well. One of my cousins just had her 2nd knee replacement surgery and is doing well too. My other cousin had her's done a few years ago. I flew to N.O. to stay with her and help. She is older than me and never married. I knew it would be hard for her living alone. She had a problem with the Oxycodone too. Had to cut it down to half a dose and only when really needed. Glad you have Tom to help.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you've had the surgery and are at home to recover. I wonder that there isn't some other option for pain meds than oxy. Take care.
ReplyDeleteYears ago I had to wean myself off of oxycontin, and it was brutal. I'm glad you are toughing it out. You look great!
ReplyDeleteI wish you a lot of health and be brave to exercises.Greetings from Ann
ReplyDeleteWouah! It was quick and I am glad it went well for you. I wish you a quick recovery recovery and not too much pain.
ReplyDeleteTom will look after you and you’ll soon look after your flowers again!
Best wishes.
It amazes me that you were sent home the same day! I hope your recuperation goes well and doesn't involve TOO much pain.
ReplyDeleteEverything is, no doubt, worse because of your trouble with opioids.
