Busy

We have been so busy since we got back home Wednesday afternoon from our short stay at the cabin on Whidbey Island that I am just now, at 10:00 on Thursday evening, getting around to trying to decide where to start in posting my photos.

After unpacking and getting everything put away Wednesday afternoon, we were off to watch Irene run her first ever middle school cross country meet. She did very well, running with a pack of four girls, three from her school, blond pony tails flying, that were so far ahead of anyone else that there was a long wait after Irene crossed over fourth in a field of about 30 girls.
Irene told her mother later that she felt "accomplished". That's a good thing.

While we were at the meet, we talked with Jill and made plans for Mother's Day. We will host lunch here before watching the Sounders play a 1:00 away game on the TV machine.

Then we picked up a pizza and shot home to watch a Sounders match in progress, which we had recorded. The Sounders won!  Finally!

Thursday I had to go get some groceries and pick up my new eye glasses, which I am still adjusting to. Then since Sunday is supposed to be 80 degrees, and we will be having a BBQ lunch, that was incentive to get the patio cleaned up, furniture washed, and we got the glass flowers out of storage and I got them set up around the garden. After an early dinner, we went to Irene's middle school band concert. She plays saxophone in the jazz band. They sounded great.

While we were on Whidbey, we worked a bit in the cabin garden after we arrived Monday afternoon. Fortunately all the weeding we did last month held and there wasn't too much to do.  The tulips are done, and it is columbine time there too. Euphorbia likes growing in the sand.
Columbine reseed themselves and plant themselves wherever.

The Pacific Coast Iris seems happy here too.

We had time Monday to visit Bayview Nursery, just up the road. The laburnum arches are just coming into bloom. It will soon be dripping with golden chains.
Tuesday was a play day on the island. We hiked in the rain forest, had lunch in an historic town and visited a rhododendron garden. I'll get posts out as I have time.

Friday I have to be up early to catch the light rail into the city for an 8:15 appointment for a hearing test, followed by an update appointment on my hearing aids. It has been two years now since I started wearing them. We'll see if my hearing has changed and if adjustments need to be made.

  4. I'm always surprised at how much you get done in a day. It would take me a week to do all these things. Watching kids participate and achieve is always rewarding.

  5. Irene certainly is accomplished. She is athletic, musical and creative. Think she will end up as busy as her grandmother and that is a good thing.
