Family Easter Fun

As I said on my one photo Facebook post, we had food, we had fun, we had egg hunting in the sun. Here's more.

The table was set the day before, of course, and the dining room was ready for visitors.

The meal was a cooperative affair. Jill brought the nearly baked ham, the twice baked potatoes, and the maple cinnamon buns, which all got popped back in the oven here when Jill and the kids arrived about 12:15. I supplied the asparagus, the fruit salad, the desserts, and the set up. By 1:00 Jake and Jan had arrived and had time to find the jelly beans.
Along with the delicious food, there were little chocolate and jelly bean treats.
After some lively visiting at the table, we cleared things away and did dishes while Easter Bunny Consultant Jake hid the eggs in the back yard. Neighbor cat Charlie/Mewdini came to help and to get attention.

After the first count of eggs, while everyone else went out to find the missing four, I parked myself at the patio table where Charlie kept me company.

Jill conducted a recount with Charlie's help. We had them all!

While it was sunny, it was cold, and no one wanted to stay outside for long. I forced them into a photo. Jill will hate this one, where she had to look in the sun, but we all know she looks a whole lot better than this.

Yes, that's better. Indoors it was time to count the loot. Not much trading went on this year,

We had another reason to be inside. While are are all sports aware and know when there is a big game of any kind, Jan is very much a fan of Women's Basketball. It was time for the Women's NCAA Championship game between two teams from the west that just happened to be Jan's two favorite college teams. But she did prefer Stanford over Arizona. Lots of conversation took place during the game, which we watched with the sound off. Tom and Jan were quiet talkers compared to some of us.
At half time it was time for the birthday celebration. We celebrated Jake even thought his birthday is next weekend. He will be at the Whidbey cabin then, and we have to meet again in two weeks for Irene's 16th birthday.

"I didn't know I was going to get pie!" Jake said. But of course he gets pie, berry pie, and cake too.

So we ate some more and talked some more and watched more basketball. Stanford won, but it was a squeaker.

A good time was had by all.

  1. What a lovely table setting and lots of food. How nice to all be together to enjoy eachother. Happy Birthday Jake, next week end.
Charlie is the best pet possible. You don't have to feed or clean litter boxes and pay vet bills but he is there to be an affection spreader when need be.

  2. Your table is gorgeous and the food looked terrific as well, but the best part I'm sure was being together again.

Happy Birthday to Jake! Take care, stay well.

  7. You certainly had a fabulous Easter, Linda. All the adults look the same, but I'm so surprised every time I see how grown up the grandkids are! And they are gorgeous! But you already know that. :-)

  9. It was cold, but it was still really nice to enjoy the sunshine. We have more coming! It's such a pretty time of the year, to my mind, even if a bit on the chilly side. :-)
