A while back I bought my first ever frozen pie shells from the grocery store. I had a can of pumpkin and a can of evaporated milk in the cupboard. I made a pumpkin pie. Easy.
Then in the evening on Thursday the sky cleared and the lunar eclipse was happening. At total eclipse, the moon turns orange.
So here you have it, my Pi Day, Lunar Eclipse pie!

ReplyDeleteMy grandson and I stood outside watching the lunar eclipse. I'm so glad the weather permitted after days of clouds and showers. Your pumpkin pie for PI day looks perfect. I'm about to start on my pie of the day ( apple).

ReplyDeleteLInda, your pie looks wonderful... and it fit the orange moon. (but my favorite is dark chocolate pie - might be good for an eclipse? ) But I wanted to tell you that we use Pet Ritz already made pie shells and they're good. However, I learned from a Chef that the way to make them even more home-made tasting is to mix a little butter, vanilla, and bourbon... and brush it lightly on the crust before baking. It really does make it even better.
