June Is Busting Out All Over!

Our garden is enjoying some sunny days, and so are the gardeners!

The bees are liking it too.

Our musk rose, which now covers the dead cherry tree, is erupting into fragrant bloom.  A lovely magenta clematis is wandering through it.

We planted much of the vegetable/cut flower garden when we had a warm spell earlier.  Then it got cold and rainy and set everything back.  Now it can get growing again.

This week I set out the basil starts that had been growing in the greenhouse.  They need heat, so bring it on.

I enjoy these pots as I spend time on the patio each afternoon.

The exotic "pregnant onion" has put up a giant bloom stalk, and has baby bulb lets galore.

Is June being good to you?

  1. Ok, I'm trying not to be jealous here. I love your garden. It is intriguing, and a true work of art.

I was so proud to plant my one columbine today, and then I saw all of yours. I truly am trying to adjust to this small yard with many gardening challenges. I will do this. I just wish I had more space in which to garden. I am however grateful I don't have the huge responsibility that you have. You two are simply amazing gardeners.

  4. I'm like Sally trying not to be jealous over here where June is not much different from the other months. Your garden is absolutely phenomenal! Wow! I especially love that vegetable garden! I can imagine what great greens you'll be getting.

  6. As I admire your gardens, I see in the background the most important feature--a tall fence. The last thing I saw last night in my back yard before I closed the curtain was a deer. I used to try to grow flowers on my deck. I've been pushed to a vertical hanger where I can hang a few planters of flowers. Otherwise the deer, groundhogs, rabbits, foxes, skunks, squirrels and feral cats would nibble away. It would take a yard enclosed in an 8 foot chain link fence to use my back yard. So I watch those hungry little buggers and buy my veggies at the farmer's market. Your gardens are beautiful and I can appreciate the amount of work that you put into it.

  7. I love those raised beds in the garden. I now know what a difference they make, since I don't have them. What a beautiful place, Linda. And yes, I'm having a fine June so far, one week in. Where is our June gloom? It can stay away as far as I'm concerned. :-)
