It's wonderful what a sunny day can do to lift the spirit and the energy level.
After a siege of cold, wet days, we're warming up and drying out for a few days, up to 50° today!
This morning we ran errands and got some grocery shopping done, plus some puttering in the house. This afternoon I went for a two mile walk over to the park, by myself! Tom was working in the back yard, cutting up cedar tree prunings into fireplace wood.
He borrowed that limb saw from his sister and it makes for much easier work, except when he had to stop and reset the chain. That's what he was doing when I got back from my walk.
I got out my bucket seat and my primroses that Tom had purchased on the field trip last Saturday and and I actually planted something. Yay!
I can manage as long as my work surface is elevated. There is so much that I can't do yet so it feels good to be at least a little useful.
We bought this beautiful hellebore when we were out this morning, but Tom will have to plant it. I can't get down on the ground yet.
I found a sunny spot on the patio and sat for a while, asking Tom to take my photo before he got back to work.
He's back to making little piles out of big piles.
And I'm hoping for a few more days like this one!
Does look like a wonderful day!! We can always use one of those! We had sun and blue skies today, too, and they were welcome indeed!!
ReplyDeleteYou look great and your flowers are beautiful! And the green grass, lovely! My son is right, Seattle is a wonderful place to live! We have brown dirt, brown grass, and absolutely no flowers blooming outside of a greenhouse.
ReplyDeleteWasn't it lovely! I got some gardening done too, mostly cleaning beds and tidying up. I bet it was wonderfully therapeutic to get your hands in the dirt. You're looking good, it looks like finally all those nasty bruises from your fall are gone. That's a gorgeous Hellebore, such a nice deep red with interesting foliage too.
ReplyDeleteOh, it looks so pretty there and you look great! The flowers are beautiful. I cannot get Hellebores to grow here! Others around here grow them, so it is just something I am doing wrong.
ReplyDeleteThings look great there with green grass and flowers in bloom.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about what a little bit of sun can do -- and you look wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love primrose and lenten rose. Have you noticed how the yellow primrose have a fragrant citrus smell?
Unfortunately, it snowed here again today and supposedly will again tomorrow, but we did have a beautiful 60° Saturday.
It looks like spring! I love the primroses.
ReplyDeleteAhhh primroses. I love them. You look great and appear to be healing nicely.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful primroses, keep on healing you look much better.
ReplyDeletelooks like spring has sprung there. our fruit trees are blossoming but there may be more cold weather in store...
ReplyDeleteYou have spring!! Ours will not rear its head for at least a month. I have learned, the hard way, that hellebores take forever to grow...so buying them fully ready this year.
ReplyDeleteOoh, that hellebore is stunning. I will see if they will grow here.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you can keep up the walking and it will be no time before you are able to garden on the ground again. You are doing so well.
I always wondered if those jaw type saws were any good.
It was indeed a wonderful day. It's the next morning and I'm catching up. Love that picture of you and now I'm seeing little signs of spring around everywhere! You look great! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou're looking good! So is the yard! Nice to see the first nice days arrive to get all our planting juices flowing. I saw all the tomato and pepper and herb plants at Home Depot yesterday and I nearly bought some, forgetting where I was and how far away I was from my garden.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice teaser for spring ... will inspire me to get out to the nursery as soon as the rest of the snow melts.
ReplyDeleteSpring is coming to your part of the world earlier than mine. I'm watching snow again this morning in PA. I'm thinking flowers and sunshine sound very good. It is good to see that you're recovering nicely.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a restful (for you) nippy, but productive day. Yae! The sun must have felt wonderful. With branch cutting, the right tool makes all the difference.
ReplyDeleteYour face looks better and I am glad you are healing well. Those flowers do look beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty planters! We are months away from flowers:)
ReplyDeleteOh green and garden.... So lucky... Glad you are making progress..hug
ReplyDeleteAh it does feel so good to get outside and do something---anything. Or to just be outside. I am hoping for more beautiful days. MB
