Touring Gardens 1

Life is getting back to normal here.  Well, maybe that's not true.  Maybe "normal' is the busy it has been.  Anyway, we are having a slow Sunday, with nothing on the schedule!

After a week of taking kids to camp, going back and forth to Jill's house to take care of cats and water the garden, and shuttling Jake to appointments and shopping and so on, we are at home today.

Of course when we were not involved in all of that other stuff, we did get in some more NPA garden touring this Saturday.  Since I don't have much around here to write about, I'll be posting photos of some of the lovely places we visited.

Julia Craig lives in Bothell, on a standard suburban lot. She has made her yard a lovely place for her and her cat to hang out.

This cat was so beautiful, such an unusual rich mix of golds and browns.

Julia is getting a re-bloom on her wisteria.

There had been a rain shower earlier in the day, something very rare around here this summer, and this little humming bird swooped down, landed in the damp soil, and seemed to be extracting moisture from it.  We just stood and watched for a while, before we moved on to the next garden.

  2. Oh, so very lovely. I was on the Hesselgrave bus today as I went to Seattle, and there was a woman who could have been YOU sitting across the aisle from me. Every time I looked at her, I had to remind myself that it wasn't you. And reading those post makes me realize how much you seem like family to me these days. Sweet little hummer. I hope he makes it through the drought. :-)

  5. Lovely garden. I always get ideas except your cooler weather makes that phlox look normal, mine are all raggedy from the bumble bees. The humming bird added magic.

  12. What a beautiful and well tended landscape. She should be proud. That really is a beautiful cat and seems happy with the surroundings. I've never seen a hummer on the ground--hope he finds moisture.
