Another Appointment and a Diversion

We went into the city for my next appointment in the process of getting hearing aids. Today I saw an ear, nose and throat specialist.

It was a short appointment, really just to go over the results of the hearing test I had several weeks ago. The doctor agreed that I was a candidate for hearing aids and sent me on my way. I have since scheduled an appointment with the audiologist for deciding what type to get.

Since we were in town, we drove across the city to Ballard to drop off the planter for Jake that we forgot the last time.
Then, since there was a break in the rain, we went over to the locks on the ship canal, also in Ballard, intending to get in a bit of a walk.
The Ballard Locks, officially the Hiram M Chittendon Locks, were completed in 1916, connecting the fresh water of Lake Washington with the salt water of Puget Sound.
Along the canal, at the locks, is a botanical garden, a good place for a stroll.
Early cherry and plum trees are beginning to flower.
We noticed what looked like a heron rookery on the opposite bank. When I asked at the visitor center, we found out that, sure enough, in the last couple of years the great blue herons have moved in to raise their young. We'll have to return in March/April.

The rain didn't hold off long, and with it steadily increasing we didn't linger that long.
But we did enjoy a bit of early spring bloom and some fresh air.

 It's good weather for geese.

The earth is erupting  with new growth all around, including in our garden. Daffodils are beginning to bloom. It looks like an early spring for us.

  1. I agree about the early spring. Doesn't feel like we had any winter. With your short hair it's going to be difficult to hide hearing aids, or is that an issue with you?

  2. Love the early blooming plants! We're a little bit later but I do have buds on the daffodils and the forsythia is about ready to pop into bloom That looks like a rhodie in bloom! The days are noticeably longer now - even with the clouds. Can't wait for full blown spring!

  3. Seeing the shrubs in bloom and the daffodil buds about to burst makes me even more anxious for our turn, which is probably 2 weeks later than yours. Too bad about the rain but you seem to have had a good time in spite of it.

  9. Your perennials are starting to get going. You have quite a few blooms. It's hard to do photography in the rain.

  14. What a coincidence, Art and I are both going to see an ENT also. Art is going for hearing aids also and I need to get my throat looked at since I'm still clearing it since November.
