Up Date

It's already near the end of January 2nd, two days gone already in the new year.

In my last post, on New Years Eve, we were waiting to see if the Space Needle fireworks would go off. They didn't. Due to winds exceeding 25 mph at the top of the Needle, the fireworks were cancelled. There was a laser light show instead.
It was pretty, but not as good as fireworks.
But having returned from seeing a movie, we were cozily settled in to greet the New Year.

The movie we saw was "Little Women". It was very good. It was a bit confusing at times, since the story is told in flashbacks in several different time frames, but the story was there, and enhanced by giving more attention to Jo/Louisa as a writer. Also the movie was visually beautiful.

New Years Day was quiet. We walked rain free. I watched U of Oregon win the Rose Bowl. We had fresh Dungeness crab for dinner. Yum!

Today we took our new computer to the Geek Squad to figure out why Google Chrome is acting up, duplicating endlessly our bookmarks. We have tried all of the fixes we could find on line. I got my laptop cleaned up (I'm using it now). But even the Geek Squad tech couldn't fix it and we had to turn it over to the guys behind the curtain to go into the innards of the computer to fix it. Tom is missing his new toy now. It's nice to know that I was actually doing all of the things correctly that I could have done.

This afternoon we took down both of our Christmas trees and packed up the trees and the decorations. We are going at the undercoating slowly this year. No reason to hurry.

I hope your year is getting off to a kindly start. Ours is.

  1. Yes, our year is starting out kindly. Today I get a massage and that is always a treat. :-)

  2. The year starts off in a hurry and continues to speed on. It's good to start with some neat things to do.

  3. David is going to see Little Women today. I read the book 5 times in 9th and 10th grades, and it is one of my favorites. However, I don't watch movies anymore due to motion sickness and the volume in the theater.

  4. Sounds like a really nice day. Love the fire in the fireplace to add to the coziness. Interesting about Little Women. I have no nearby theaters so I have broken out the book again since I hadn't read it since high school.

  6. A good start to our year too but I would have been happier if the Hoosiers had won. ;)

  7. My New Year's Eve was especially quiet since I went to bed early. I did hear fireworks but I didn't even get out of bed to see if I might catch a glimpse of them. But I woke up to sunshine and that was spectacular enough for me!

  8. The Space Needle is still pretty even without the fireworks. We were in bed at 9:30 New Year's Eve. At 12:02 two loud blasts woke us up. Thankfully, we were able to go back to sleep. No matter how I try, I can not stay awake at night, well, except after going to bed. :)

  10. It sounds like you had a wonderful start to the new year. We spent it quietly too. However, we’re having our family get-together this coming Saturday since not everybody was able to get off of work or return from travel to celebrate on new year itself. I guess I’m a little stressed right now with a number of things that need to be done, but we shall have to deal with them one by one.

  11. Well our year could be better but it could be worse too. Happy New Year to you and Tom!
