Now that the Holiday Season is here, I hope Santa can find all of his reindeer in time. They seem to be scattered here and there.
Last Friday we made a field trip to some garden stores, looking for some wreath materials. Ordinarily we don't do Christmas until after Thanksgiving, but we are going to have a little wreath making party as entertainment for our guests on Thanksgiving day, so we needed some stuff. We did look a little too, since we were there.
Of course there was Starbucks. The Holiday cups are fun this year.
On Saturday Tom picked a lot of greens from our yard, while I cleaned up the lawn, raking up cones and sticks, so he could mow it in the afternoon. Then I made a wreath, a "prototype" for our wreath making on Thursday.
Today is Monday, housecleaning and laundry day. We cleaned a little deeper today. I'm sure glad Tom does the heavy stuff. I have to make a quick run to the grocery store tomorrow morning, and then we should be set. The turkey is thawing in the refrigerator. The lists are being made and checked off. We'll have time to go to a Sounders playoff match at the stadium Tuesday evening.
It's a busy time. The Holiday season is here.
I don't seem to be minding the holiday coming early. I just hope I feel as good about it in a month. :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't know how to get out of my "bah, humbug" mindset about the holidays. However, I do enjoy your posts and pictures about them!
ReplyDeleteSo Santa is splitting up the herd? The reindeer sure are pretty. Sounds like you are ready for both holidays. Can't wait to see the results of the wreath making. You all do such good work.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you were at my local garden store, Watsons. I know Maidee Watson and usually try to get down there during the holiday season. And they have the reindeer back!
ReplyDeleteCareful planning produces a fun time.
ReplyDeleteThat garden center has quite a lovely display!! Lots of pretty stuff. I'm not sure how I feel about the Poinsettia with splotched 'petals'.
ReplyDeleteThe displays at the garden center are lovely! I spotted a few things I've love to add to my home. :) I especially like the poinsettia with the variegated leaves.
ReplyDeleteMowing in November is such a foreign concept to me.
Happy Thanksgiving!
You found reindeer and poinsettias...perfect to get you in the holiday spirit!
ReplyDeleteyes it is time, we bought a turkey yesterday-16 lbs just for hubby and me as our guests grand daughter, hubby and baby can't make it but her dad-my son Daniel and family have already flown by on their way to Port Penasco Mexico below Arizona where they are doing a church building project for members down there. Have been doing this for 10 years minus cover. They'll stop by on the way back next Sat so we'll have lots of leftovers. I don't like going to a restaurant for turkey dinner-it's not the same....
ReplyDeleteWishing you and your family Happy Holidays. Thank you for your lovely blog.
ReplyDeleteI hope you post photo of your wreathe. Sounds like something our daughter-in-law would appreciate. Have not been inside a Christmas decorating store at all. Just want to get past TG travel.
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate your professional approach. These are pieces of very useful information that will be of great use for me in future.

Always nice to see poinsettias in the stores. I bought two on Sunday and it feels like Christmas.
ReplyDeleteYou have the MOST gorgeous garden centers in your area. Thank you for sharing those photos with us. Like Honolulu Aunty, I was actually of the bah humbug mindset, but I’m feeling more like getting into the spirit of it now. Maybe it’s seeing your photos that’s turning on the holiday lightbulb for me.
ReplyDeleteThank you for another excellent article. Where else could anybody get that kind of info in such an ideal way of writing?
