During the days early this week when the temperature hardly rose above freezing in the bright sunshine, Tom labored in the cold, decorating the outside.
On Tuesday evening, as the sun faded and the moon rose, we had our grand lighting ceremony, just the two of us.
We live back off the street, so really only the house lights show in the neighborhood.
So why do we do this? As Kathy so well stated on her blog, we do it for the Joy!
And this is what we get to see!
I do love that view from your window! Lovely.
ReplyDeleteHow absolutely perfect! That's a lot of lights and a lot of work. It is so pretty! I too decorate and send cards because it makes me happy. I love that warm friendly feel of Christmas. I looked at Kathy's blog. She said it just right! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous! Tom's hard work certainly paid off!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful lights, but what about your electric bill????
ReplyDeleteLinda, so beautiful. Would like to be your neighbour!
ReplyDeleteAll my best from Austria

Yes, our electric bill goes up for the month of December, mostly because it's COLD and DARK. I don't mind paying more for the sake of surrounding myself with light and beauty.
ReplyDeleteI am a simple candles in the window person, but I do love to see what others can do with strings of lights and some imagination. I definitely get the appeal of twinkling lights at this time of year when it is so dark so early.
ReplyDeleteWe have tree lights on and some inside the house, but haven't yet done the outside. Not sure we will, actually.
ReplyDeleteWe are not doing lights this year as hubby has not mentioned the project at all! So, I will enjoy your lights.
ReplyDeleteWow, you decorate as well as you garden. Just lovely--enjoy.
ReplyDeleteHow absolutely wonderful! I think they are beautiful and show what talent Tom has! :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely and classic-looking!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you so much for the mention, Linda!
ReplyDeleteYour decorations are beautiful, Tom did a fabulous job, it was so good of him to brave that cold weather. I love your new header photo.
ReplyDeleteOh yes! It's very, very joyful indeed!
