Beware The Spider Bite

It's that time of the year. Spiders are everywhere.
One night last week one of those creepy arachnids crept into my bedroom, scuttled onto my bed, lurked on my pillow, and then.....bit my neck! Then it skulked off into a crevice.
I know this because the next morning I awoke with an itchy and stinging welt where my night visitor had left its venom.
I had no serious effects at the time, just a constant irritation as I tried to remember not to scratch the itch. The welt has now subsided.
But there seems to be a more lingering effect, a change in appearance and behavior.
I seem to be attracted to spiders. I find myself drawn to hunting them out in the garden.
I don't seem to mind having them around.
I have taken to calling myself Arachnia, Spider Witch.
Tomorrow I am flying to Colorado. I was planning to go by plane, since it's a long and cold flight by stick. I hope they let me on the plane.
I might have to disguise myself in my old persona.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Have a Ghoulishly Good time.

  1. Fabulous post! Have a safe trip, Arachnia.

  2. funny blog, I was worried that your face swelled up or something else horrifying happened then had to laugh when you appeared in a witch costume. Have fun with the grandkids and don't eat too much halloween candy.

  3. You are funny. I hope you take that outfit for the grandchildren...oh heck for all the children that might happen upon you. Great costume!

  4. Are those webs real or fake?
    Have fun on your trip!

  5. The webs are real and the bite was real. The rest - well, you decide.

  6. Bravo Linda..Great post and costume..

  7. This is too funny, too wonderful! I love it! I have arachniphobia so those web photos sent a chill up my spine.

  8. Wow! A real spider witch! Good photos Linda. I was impressed too with your cobweb photos. I have never been very successful at taking these. - Dave

  9. Great Blog - I am from NZ and saw your link on Cimba's blog! Lynn

  10. this is such a fun and creative post!!

    your photos are fantastic!

  11. GaAAhldern! These are some great photos. Love your costume. Love you standing in the garden in your costume. I even love the shots of the webs. They're beautiful! Like Kay, I have an unreasonable fear of spiders...so your story (true story, no less) gave me the heebie geebies.

As it is, I pull down the sheets and check them out with a flashlight before I crawl into bed at night. I keep a flashlight by the side of the bed so I can shine it on the walls and floor should I have to get up during the night. That's funny! Should I have to get up. ha ha ha ha... I can't remember the last time I DIDN'T have to get up during the night.
Anyway. This is one of my all time favorite posts!!

  12. Oh, great balls of fire! Or as an arachnid would say: great balls of spiderwebs! You are too funny. LOL

Great and hilarious post! Now get on your broom and ride out of this blog.
