As I walked out to the street this morning under sodden skies, I couldn't help but notice how green it was. The birds were singing, and the incessant rain had temporarily let up.
Don't get me wrong. I am at the stage that I am hating this endless rain. It's spoiling our fun and making me blue. But I had to stop and realize the beauty around me.
I went looking for the small things.
The roses can wait no longer. Sun or no sun, the first buds are bursting into bloom.
I love the green and it is good that you could take the time to appreciate what all this rain does. Around August I am always wishing it would just rain once a week and turn that brown to green. Lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteI share your feelings. See my post for today. A Texas relative had the nerve to ask me if this didn't make me wish I was living in the Texas Hill Country. For the first time ever I paused for a second, but only a second, and said "no, I prefer green over brown."
ReplyDeleteLinda, you found LOTS of reasons to appreciate the 'incessant' rain! (Shhhh-hh-h, I see a little blue patch in the sky!) ~karen
ReplyDeleteI am tired of the rain and the gray and I do get down waiting for a little sunshine, but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else! Your photos are another reminder of why!! Have a great week, Linda1

So much beauty in these photographs but I can understand you getting a bit tired of all the rain. Wishing you sunny skies ahead.
ReplyDeleteI also enjoy the green, but this is by far the latest I can remember it being this rainy and cold. I am ready for some sun, and so is the garden. It looks so pathetic that I fear it might be a "Cabbage Year" when all the grows is cabbage.
ReplyDeleteyou could be stuck in the desert with no rain and 106 degrees like me indoors close to the air conditioner. lol!
ReplyDeleteI don't have nearly the problem with the rain that others seem to have, mostly because it does go away and the sun does come out now and then. Remember Saturday was gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to deal with incessant, soaking rains, but you're right about how lush everything seems. I'll keep my fingers crossed for some sun for you.
ReplyDeleteI guess it's feast or famine. We're under drought conditions over here and things look decidedly brown. I give a lot to see some of your cool rain.
ReplyDeleteKay is right. Hawaii is experiencing a drought. But, I still prefer sunshine to constant rain.
ReplyDeleteOf course rain is why we are called the Evergreen State---well one reason anyway.
ReplyDeleteAnd this wonderful wet and warm weather makes the WEEDS grow so much better. grrrrrrr!!
A day trip to the ocean is lots of fun and it really is only a few hours away---so why not. We crossed over on the Edmonds-Kingston ferry and angled our way over to 101 and enjoyed the backroads too. MB
I can never get over the beauty of your lawn and garden. WOW! I thought the quail were real at first. Ha!
ReplyDeleteLaughing at the "TX Hill Country" , been there, done that. (Texas in my rearview mirror). Been all over that state and left the country more times than I can count to exit. Lol
ReplyDeleteThe hill country can't hold a candle to the Evergreen State.
Your photos are charming. Thanks for sharing.
And for the laugh.
Such wonderful pictures. Thank you for sharing! Hope you are having a wonderful week. :) Petra
ReplyDeleteYes indeed, look for the bright spots wherever possible! What a beautiful yard you have, bright colors and your cute decorations.
