We Decorated

There are no pumpkins on the porch yet. I don't know that I'll put any out this year since we won't be home for Halloween and we don't have trick-or-treaters here anyway, since the house is too far off the street, and it's easier to go to the mall. But we do have this little scare crow girl to greet arrivals to the front door. And inside we have some fun stuff that we like to display just for our own enjoyment. The glass jack-o-lanterns are antique candy jars that belonged to Tom's mother and her sister, circa 1915. (click to enlarge) A gourd, an apple gourd, and fabric pumpkins.
The Halloween cutouts were collected long ago by a previous kindergarten teacher and left when Tom too over the room, also a long time ago now. When he retired he claimed them for his own. By now they are antiques as well.
And these fun old postcards are also family heirlooms, from the era of Tom's grandparents' younger days.
They are treasures all!

  1. Linda, that is such fun to see. That's one of the things I miss the most in apartment living. There's little room to store anything so I have to keep decorations to a minimum.

If I were still in my house in Texas you can bet fall decorations would be everywhere. I don't like halloween much but pumpkins and fall leaves are wonderful. I also miss my Christmas decorations.

Tom's mother picked the right daughter-in-law in you. You seem to appreciate her things as much as she did.
