Easter and a Birthday

We arrived a little after noon. Jill was busy in the kitchen. The aroma of good food wafted through the house. Aunt Jan followed us in the door, and the six of us began our family celebration of Spring and renewal on an almost perfect day.

We shared Easter baskets, a second round for the kids, of course.

Irene received Pusheen slippers from the Easter bunny earlier in the morning.
We had a delicious dinner of baked ham, twice baked potatoes, asparagus, yummy home baked "Good Morning Buns" , and fruit salad. Of course I forgot to take photos of the pretty table or the food.

After lingering around the dining table, and eating the chocolate and jelly bean eggs, we sent Grandpa Bunny out to hide eggs while we cleaned up dinner. Then it was time for the egg hunt.

Ready, set, GO!

Mr. Whiskers was a no-go, as he basked in the sun. It was about 65 degrees!

We counted the eggs collected - 48 out of 50-so we searched some more. We found one more, and as Irene laughingly told me, "We'll find the other one in January."

Time to open the eggs, reveal the candy treats and do some swapping.

Then it was time for birthday gifts! Irene turns 12 today, so we celebrated a day early. She had already had a friends party on Friday.

Irene reacts to a card I created for her.
The gift from Aunt Jan was a Pusheen shirt. "Pusheen" was the theme of Irene's birthday this year. For those of you, like me, who are not in the know, Pusheen is a comic strip cat on Facebook who obviously has a big following and is well marketed.

You may have noticed Irene's own Pusheen, Mr. Whiskers, hanging out, literally, during the activities.

Oh, boy! New shoes. This not-so-little-anymore girl has not-little feet.
The cake, of course, was Pusheen.

And then there was more eating!
It was a beautiful day in many ways.  Thank you, Jill, for a lovely Easter and Birthday celebration.

  12. how fun, we had a quiet day at home alone, hubby grilled t bone steaks on the grill and the weather was lovely...soon it will be too hot. This week I go to visit family up north in UTah where it's cooler and rainy or snowy this time of year.
