We're at the Denver airport awaiting our flight back to Seattle, due in about 11:00PM. Jill and the kids dropped us off early so they could make the trip back home by bed time. Isaac has already texted us "COME BAAAAACK!!!!!
We did all have a great time with all of the Halloween activities through five fun filled days.
Sunday we took it easy in the morning, went for a short walk in the sunshine, sat around, and kept an eye on the Denver Broncos, who were playing in London. They lost badly.
In the afternoon, we watched the Seahawks play. They lost badly.
In the early evening we lit the jack-o-lanterns and the parade of trick-or-treaters began arriving at the door. At 6:00 we assigned the door duty to Isaac and Irene while we adults watched the Sounders playoff match against LA Galaxy. At half time Jill took the kids around the block for treats. With that they were satisfied to stay home and answer the door.
The Sounders played a very good game, but fell to the Galaxy 1-0. They meet again next Sunday.
Today, Monday, the kids had the day off for teachers' workshop day. Irene and I made a list of all we wanted to do today, just playing with Grandma and Grandpa. They has my total attention, and I'm weary as result. But what a fun day. We made a fort in Irene's bedroom, and had a 'kitty' theme to our play. Grandpa read pop up books, and we played games. After lunch, we had homework time and Irene practiced her reading with me. She's doing well for having only two months of kindergarten.
Then we walked/rode bikes to the park by the Library where we interacted as they played on the play structure. It's fun to see them playing together, using their imaginations.
After that the schedule called for relaxing outside. We got drinks and the candy pails and sat on the porch. Next was 'playing outside'. We raked up a pile of leaves in the back yard and took turns jumping in it.
All of these were on our list, and Irene kept track and checked them off as we completed them.
And finally we got to the last item - take Gma and Gpa to Chile's for dinner and then to the airport. Irene said she would check that off when she got back home. -
It's now about 30 minutes until boarding. I might send a few pics tomorrow. My little notebook doesn't handle them too well, and I'm not up to the effort.

Editor: I added pics Tuesday morning. we got home after midnight, but of course I was too wound up to sleep well, so I was up before the sun, which is not so early these days. It looks like we'll have a clear, sunny day, and the autumn color is still at it's peak here. Looking forward to a beautiful, slow paced day.
what a busy fun time you've had and your grandkids. you'll need to recuperate for a week.
ReplyDeleteHow organized you people are to even have a list of fun activities to do and then cross them off as you do them! Haha! Love it!
ReplyDeleteYou sure did have a fabulous time!!! And we can see the family hated to see you both leave. Ahh... but you'll be back together soon. Thanks for letting us share in the fun and the love.
ReplyDeleteI keep wanting to ask if both you and Tom were elementary school teachers?
ReplyDeleteBoth of you do such a good job grandparenting Issac and Irene.
Keeping up with Jill seems to be the bigger task!
I'm glad I came back for another look! Such gorgeous grandchildren!
ReplyDeleteAfter that wonderful bounty, you deserve a peaceful day!! I can totally understand why they want you back! :)
