Footnote
Some of you were asking, after my last post, if I still had that 'foot problem'.
Yep, I do. The plantar faciitis has not calmed down much, but I'm tired of it cramping my style, so I'm acting 'as if' - as if it isn't a problem.
We went to a big antique show last Saturday and I was on my feet for a long time. I just found a place to sit down when it started to hurt too much, and then went on. I can't go out for hour long, hard pounding aerobic walks, but I will go for shorter, less ambitious walks. I need to be outside when the weather permits. Like today.
Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy.

the only way I know to cure your ailment is to stay off of it for several months and wear good supportive shoes-no barefooting. You need arch supports. It helped me and I haven't been bothered for years since taking more care to let it heal and wear supportive shoes.
ReplyDeleteLin is the voice of reason (see above comment. Listen to her, Linda!
ReplyDeleteI have battled this condition for 20 years. In all of that time, I have worn only supportive shoes, never go barefoot, and wear professional arch supports. But I broke the rules on the beach in August, playing with my grandkids, and have been bothered since, despite all of the appropriate measures, including a cortisone shot.
ReplyDeleteI just came back form a 30-40 minute walk, and I feel good, just a little heel pain. The good thing is that right now, nothing else is hurting. My all over arthritis is in calm mode.
Great to hear that, Linda. I was wondering if you were recovering. Amazing that just one little indiscretion was responsible for all that pain!!
ReplyDeleteYou've probably already tried the padded inserts in your shoes, right? And really, a foot massage did wonders for my plantar fasciitis. That was 4 years ago and I've had only brief hints of a problem since.
ReplyDeleteI have been involved in a longetivity study for the past 25 years, and after thousands (millions?) of dollars and lots of time, they have found a simple truth "Use it or Lose it" It is great that you are continuing to walk even through the pain!
ReplyDeleteAh, sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy, too! And I did soak up some and I LOVE our beautiful blue skies today! Hope your week is going well! I know it's hard doing all the things you would like to do with the foot problem! Seems like it's always something -- a couple of days ago I thought I had a major rash, went to the doctor and discovered that I had Shingles! He said anyone who has had Chicken Pox at any time in their life is susceptible to and likely to get Shingles! Ah, well, I've got the anti-itch stuff now and hopefully it will go away SOON! Hope you have a lovely evening, Linda!

So sorry you suffer from this malady...it can be very painful indeed and not much you can do for it but rest it.
ReplyDeleteIf your feet aren't happy...nothing goes smoothly, plans get modified...boo hiss!
ReplyDeleteI always have feet issues. Hang in there, Linda!
Oh Linda, I am so sorry! Now that really is aggravating. It's especially hard when you know you need to exercise, want to exercise, but your feet won't let you. I sure hope it gets better soon.
