CELEBRATING!

Even though his official birthday was Wednesday, we celebrated Isaac's birthday today.  Well, actually, again today.  Aunt Jan and Ann were unable to join us, but we carried on.

But before we could do that we had to get the Seahawks through the first round of the NFL playoffs.

Some of us, like me,  were very nervous.  This city has gone Seahawks crazy, with very big expectations for making it to the Super Bowl.  A loss would have been devastating, and a win was certainly not assured.
We all geared up to watch the game.
 Kitties too.

They kept us on the edge of our seats and pacing the room.  Isaac couldn't stand the pressure and bailed out in the fourth quarter.
But we made him come back for the last three minutes as the Seahawks held on to win it!  We all celebrated!
And posed for a commemorative photo.

During much of the game Irene worked on her painting.  Since receiving an easel from us for Christmas, she has become quite the dedicated artist, planning out her pictures, sketching them and then painting.

Then it was time for the birthday celebration.  This year Isaac requested an Owl theme.  Jill  was up to her usual standard with the special birthday cake.

Jill made real macaroni and cheese and we had a good dinner.  Then Isaac had a pile of presents to open, including those that had come from his Colorado family.

We ate cake and ice cream and celebrated Isaac and his eleven great years.
When Grandpa and I left, the kids were in the hot tub, another first, and another reason to celebrate.  Jill was soon to join them.  There are still a few fixes to be done, but after months of bigger fixes, it is functioning!
Hurray for a great day!

  1. Irene is quite an artist! And yes, I was nervous, too, since there was so much riding on the game. It might just be the Seahawks and Broncos in the Super Bowl! Love that great looking cake. :-)

  15. You made me chuckle when I saw Isaac with the gift from Colorado! A Bronco shirt! That was great.

It looks like his birthday was very special and a lot of fun. I'm glad the Seahawks won. (I'm also glad the Broncos won. ;))

Irene is really quite an artist. The easel was the perfect gift. My children had an easel when they were young. Many happy moments were spent there creating some art pieces. Irene, no doubt, will continue to develop this gift with such supportive grandparents.
