Warning: This Post Might Not Be Suitable for Sensitive Viewers

I'm feeling fine after my "trip" last Friday.  As my sister the nurse says, be thankful the bleeding was on the outside of your head, and not the inside.

There have been no symptoms of concussion.  Other than a few sore spots from my crash landing, all is well.

Except.....
How do you take this face out in public?
Once I get over the queasy feeling I get from looking at myself in the mirror in the mornings, I am doing fine.  I am back to walking, with a bit of caution, and exercising.  We are even getting a little yard clean up done during the dry weather.

But tomorrow I have a hair cut appointment and I need to go in to the See Center to get my glasses adjusted and perhaps replaced.  Wednesday we are going out for Chinese food with Isaac and family for his birthday.

How do I hide this?

Thank goodness I don't have to look at it!

  1. Oh, my, Linda. Is Tom worried about going out in public with you? He is bound to get some funny looks while you might get sympathy.

  2. On the bright side, It's quite symmetrical. You could add some bright colors of makeup to make it seem like a far out look of some sort. Of course you'd need an outfit to go with it. Does Lady Gaga have garage sales? Glad that it's not as painful as it looks!

  3. Linda, I'm so sorry about your 'fall'. I hadn't read your blog in the last day or so, so when I saw the picture, I had to go back and see what had happened. You are really lucky that you didn't break anything... as it didn't sound like there was anyone around to help you.

  4. Buy some inexpensive sunglasses with large lenses. That will cover most of the eyes.

  5. Actually, it looks a bit like a Hindu makeup job to me! Symmetrical, starting with the Third Eye and going right down the sinus cavities. Why try to hide it? Just smile and acting like you're starting a new trend. :-)

It does make me feel much better to see how well you are healing. And it will be very good to see correctly through your glasses again, I'll bet. Wow, Linda. You did a bang-up job (grin).

  6. I'd be tempted to have some fun with it...buy myself a thirty that said "senior cage fighting champion 2014'" and let the crowds be in awe!

Hope you feel much better than you look! What a way to start the year.

  7. Darn spell check...I'd by a t-shirt not a thirty!

  8. A pretty silk scarf around your forehead and a big pair of sunglasses. I wonder how long until the discoloration goes away. You are a lucky lady:)

  9. Mercy. You need a tee shirt that reads "He didn't touch me, I fell." And still Tom will get nasty looks. Poo fella.
    How about really big sunglasses?

  10. OMGosh! I do think the colors are pretty. In many ways, this is a good visual on what could have happened on the inside of the skull and that makes it even more scary! Wear a Mardi Gras mask with feathers and say you are celebrating early.

  11. Yiiiiikes!!!!! Good gosh, Linda! The grandkids must be super worried along with the rest of the family. Please, please take it easy.

I was thinking of a t-shirt with something like: He didn't do it! Or... You should have seen the other guy.

  12. Oh My! I am so glad that you didn't have any signs of a concussion, and no body aches and pains either from the landing. Too bad you're not a flower, it would be a great color.

  13. WOW! If anyone stares at you just give them the stinky eye and say "you should see the other guy." I agree with the t-shirt idea that says Senior Cage Boxing Champion! and a shirt for Tom that says "I had NOTHING to do with it!"

  14. Gee, it looks terrible.

  15. I'm just happy that nothing really serious happened to you. It's a big scare though. You pick yourself up and check if everything is where it's supposed to be. If anyone asks tell them the other guy looks much worse than you. It really shuts people up. Keep on moving. Don't give up.

  16. Sunglasses and a big smile!! That'll do it every time!! I'm just so glad it isn't more serious than it is -- and looks!! Holding good thoughts, Linda!! Take care!

  19. Oh Linda!!! Glad you didn't concuss yourself. How frightening that moment is when one knows one's 'going down' and there's not a thing one can do about it.

  20. I'm sorry you took such a hard fall. Amazing that you feel up to doing anything.

Take care. I hope you heal quickly!

  22. I took a face plant like that two years ago and wore large sunglasses. It takes awhile to fade, weeks, but it will fade.

  24. Oh my goodness, Linda!! I have been amiss in not reading your blog. I am so sorry you landed in the mud. I am glad you can have a sense of humor about this. You could say--'yeah but you should see the other guy" LOL!!
I am glad you are ok and nothing is broken.
Should I say Happy New Year.

BTW: the Western Kingbird I photographed was in Omak and I think their territory is east of the mts. MB
