I Couldn't Remember Saturday

I thought I should get something posted today, so I began to think back over the last few days. I couldn't remember Saturday.

Fortunately I have a planning calendar on the corner of my kitchen counter where I write down everything. It says I did all of my PT exercises, rode my stationary bike for 5 miles/30 minutes, and made Pozole. Without something significant going on, each day blends into the next.

I do know that Sunday (yesterday) our son Jake came for breakfast and a visit. We talked until well past noon. He is a deep thinker and well informed, and we have very substantive conversations. I like that. We talked about politics, religion, and history, and how they impact each other. Not always safe subjects in just any crowd, they are safe and welcomed here at the homestead. Talking with him expands my mind.

After he left I got all of my PT done and checked off, and did another 5 miles on my stationary bike. I haven't used this bike since my back surgery until now, preferring to walk when I can, but when the rains came back in earnest, it was good to have an exercise option.

Then we had sports to watch. I wish we could have spread out our team viewing a little better, but the Sounders started at 4:00 and the Seahawks were on Sunday Night Football, starting at 5:20. As it turned out, we lost the Sounders match while I kept track of the Seahawks on my phone. Since the Seahawks were still scoreless at the half, I didn't miss much, but that second half was a thriller. The Seahawks are now 5-0, pulling off one squeaker victory after another.

I picked some flowers today.

There are still a few pretty things out in the garden, although the rain has beat things up. The flowers will soon succumb to weather and lack of sun and heat.

That was my reward for being a good girl and helping to get all of the housework and laundry done, all of the exercises checked off, and going for a 1.25 mile walk. It was hard today, but I persisted.

  1. You have so many gorgeous flowers in your garden, Linda. I'm always in awe of your bouquets.
Good grief! I can't remember what I did yesterday! I have a planning calendar too, but I forget to write things down. Thank goodness Art is so much better at remembering to do things.

  6. Aren't calendars a blessing? Especially if you are diligent about marking things down. The days do run together. Glad you have Jake for those deep conversations and feel safe having them. Now days, even friends can be on a hostile side.

  7. My adult children help me stay on top of things, and as they have a different perspective at times it's good for my thought process as well.

I've gotten to the point, I haven't a clue what day it is most of the time. I have to check my Fitbit for day and date - and I use a calendar too to keep track of what's been happening.

    Take care and stay well!

  13. Your flowers are so pretty. My days run together too. Usually, I have to stop and think what day we are in. That sure wasn't the case back when I got up and went to work in Raleigh every day.
