Mixing Seasons

We traveled to the Kitsap Peninsula (other side of the sound)  on Saturday to attend a cousin's birthday party and stopped on the way in Gig Harbor at a Starbucks to spend a little time with Tom's sister. The Holiday cups are out and the Cranberry Bliss Bars are on the menu.

On Friday we went grocery shopping and spent enough money at Safeway to get a free turkey. The $150 qualifying amount wasn't hard to reach this year, and then some.

There is an orange glow in the front yard. The Full Moon Maple has reached it's color climax, and will soon begin to fade and it drops it's beautiful leaves.

This shot from inside the house.

And outside.

The first leaves are falling,
while the hardy fuchsia flowers continue to bloom.

And Christmas lights are going up on the house. Tom made an appointment with busy granddaughter Irene for some assistance for this job. She is more nimble and has better balance, besides being taller and with a better stretch to reach. It didn't keep him off the roof though. He reports his new leaf blower works well to clean the tree needles off the roof.

They got all of the burnt out bulbs replaced and we are good to go. Lights!

We won't officially turn them on until Thanksgiving night though. We don't completely mix the seasons.

  2. That reminds me that I have to get my lights up. Well, not really up. I hang mine at window ledge height.

  7. Love the colorful tree. What intrepid souls they were to go on the roof, something I wouldn't do.
