More Busy Days

The title should probably read More Busy Daze, since it's hard to remember all we have been doing.

I do know that Monday was house cleaning and laundry day, and then we  worked outside, planting and cleaning up.

On Tuesday we took a van load to plants to my sister Laurie for her plant sale.

Laurie belongs to a small gardening group that holds an annual plant sale as a fund raiser for scholarships for their local high school, Winlock, a small town in southwestern Washington. The plants are all donations from the members gardens, and that's what these are too, all of Tom's geranium cuttings and divisions collected from our garden. He can't through anything out when he thins, reduces, and collects seedlings.

Then we spent the afternoon visiting nurseries.

On Wednesday I was out in the garden by 9:30 and worked until 1:00. Tom had a dentist appointment and then trimmed the juniper hedge. I planted things. We are hosting our family for Mother's Day dinner and it will be warm and we will grill and eat on the patio. I need to get pots and beds cleaned up and replanted or refreshed.

Wednesday afternoon we went to Irene's track meet. She qualified for League Championships and had one hurdle race on Wednesday and will have three more events on Friday. We will be there.

Today we wore ourselves out working in the garden again. We finally called a halt at 4:00. After resting up a bit I got cleaned up, did some dinner prep, and then attended a Highline Foundation Scholarship award ceremony. Irene was one of 34 students in the highline district presented with a scholarship.

It was about 7:15 when I got home and Tom was just pulling the shrimp off the grill. We had a yummy dinner then collapsed into our recliners.

  2. Wow, you HAVE been busy! I'm inspired by the shrimp on the barbie - may have to try that soon as the weather heats up and we start cooking outside in earnest.

  4. Congratulations to Irene!
Those who purchase the plants from your gardens are very fortunate. The two of you take such good care of the gardens.
