Baking and More

I baked some cookies today, with a bit of help from Tom. These are last year's photos, but they look the same this year. They'll be packed away in the freezer, awaiting festivities.

I also did some online shopping. I found some very cute Little People Christmas play sets at www.fisher-price.com , at much better prices than Amazon, and free shipping! I love shopping on line! I went a little nuts. But, oh, what fun we'll have.

I have been hearing and seeing comments about making Christmas simpler, not enjoying all the shopping, or the music, or the commercialism, or whatever. That's fine. But obviously I'm not there yet. There was a time when the kids were grown up that the magic disappeared for a while, but it came back with the grandchildren, a son-in-law who loves it all, and a daughter who has rediscovered the magic through her children.

However you feel about the holidays, and whatever you do, I hope you will find your own personal JOY, and maybe even a little MAGIC.

  3. You have a wonderful attitude. I wish I could say to all Americans "Lighten up and try to enjoy a few days free of complaining."

Our little grandson(7)has been into Ancient Egypt for about three years now and we'd about run out of stuff to buy, but Playmobil came out with a new Ancient Egypt line this fall, bless them. I bought every single piece of it. My purse is very flat now because that was a chunk of money.

A friend has sent a set of Ancient Egypt Shure Archiquest building blocks that apparantly are new this year. I was shocked when they arrived and I saw she had paid $85 for them. She must be as desperate as the rest of us, but still I consider $85 a bit steep for a friend's gift.

  4. I always enjoy the holidays although we don't celebrate big time because there is just the two of us. But it's a beautiful time of year and there's lots of love and joy to share. My oldest son just got a terrific new job at the university that we both graduated from, my youngest daughter just returned from three weeks in China. So, we have so much to be thankful for and we are!! Like you!
    Enjoy every day, Linda!

  5. I have discovered that this year I am having a bit of a struggle to get into the holiday mood. I attribute it to the fact that now my youngest, Ashton, is off to college my nest is finally empty and I don't like it one bit. But I hope in a few years all the magic and joy will come rushing back with grandchildren. Although today I found myself thinking of where to place the decorations and I did hang decorations on the doors. And the goodies looked yummy!

  6. Great baking Linda. I'm sure this year's effort was just as good. Yes, Christmas is magic, but more so when we have young children around. - Dave

  7. Those are amazing photo of cookies all ready to share. They look scrumptious!

I ordered something on line at Amazon.com a couple days ago. I was going to order the same thing at Bestbuy.com because it was cheaper but when I checked the next day it was gone. The person at Best Buy said when I see it, I have to grab it because they don't stay on. Sheesh!
