Logging

Today was the day scheduled for heavy duty pruning - chain saw pruning. The weather man predicted rain, but it held off until mid afternoon, allowing us to get the big jobs done. We hired son Jake to come help. Still lacking full time employment, he takes jobs where he can, including with us. We removed large limbs from a fir tree and from a clump of hazelnut. It involved climbing on a ladder and running the chain saw. I was glad to have a strong young man there to help. My job was to clip off all of the green boughs on the fir, and to help in reducing the hazelnut into piles for the chipper, the lopping shears, and the chain saw. All of the fir boughs will be run through the chipper, but that's for another day. Jake and Tom got all of the "logs" cut up for fire wood. Now it's raining and we get to rest. I won't need to do my forty minutes on the stationary bike today!

  3. A little after five, the wind has let up a little. Now that was some wind! I spent three hours inside a Catholic church listening to choir music, but when I walked outside, it was to a 50-mph gale and driving rain!

  4. I didn't know you have a fireplace. Those logs will be perfect for it. I have never seen a wood-burning fireplace here in Hawaii, though.

  8. No, I guess not. You already did your share of exercise today. Your yard is amazing. I think the job you did today would take us a week to do. I'm sure you really have a great feeling after accomplishing all that.

  10. Looks like familiar labor. We have six grown sons, but my husband Art insisted upon climbing up the tree with the chainsaw.

  11. Yard work always feels so invigorating to me -- and then I'm usually really sore the day after. Wonderful that your son could help.

It'll be some time before we can get outside and do clean up as we still have snow on the ground. It's really been a very cold winter.

  12. MUKILTEO DAILY PHOTO HERE. I'M WONDERING LINDA WHERE YOU GOT YOUR GREENHOUSE WITH HOOPS?

OPPS, STUCK ON UPPER CASE.. OH WELL..
I'm not yelling, but I am very curious. I bought a cheapie last year and it lasted only a short while. I need one for my starts and mums..and tropical to get healthy in summer. They flourish in a green house in the warm months.
