Scheduling

Last week the 2011 MLS Soccer Season schedule was announced, finally. As you may know, we are a soccer crazy family and so all of our spring/summer/fall plans were on hold until we got the game schedule for the Seattle Sounders FC. As soon as we got the schedule on line, the email, Facebook and phone lines heated up. Now we and son Jake and daughter Jill could start booking vacations at the Whidbey and Rockaway Beach cabins. Tom and I could could consult with Jill about our spring trip to Colorado. Calendars could be filled out. The word could be spread about which matches we would need additional tickets for. It turns out the Sounders play the Colorado Rapids April 22nd, Good Friday, and a day off from school in Colorado. Granddaughter Irene's birthday is the Sunday before, and then comes Easter. So we'll be there for all of it. Jake will join us for the soccer match and Easter weekend, and the three of us will fly home late Easter night. Oh, and Tom and I are cashing in World Points from our credit card, and we'll fly free! I checked my banking account on line just now and our tax refund from the IRS has been deposited. Cool! Of course we already spent it. We ordered a new garage door, one of the last of our home improvement projects, and it is scheduled for installation in late March. Next week we plan to spend a day helping teachers move into our brand new neighborhood school. This is the school I retired from five and a half years ago, and I have some good friends there still. It will give me a chance to visit with them and have the run of the new building. They have spent the last year and a half in an older, surplussed building while our school was torn down and a new one has risen from the rubble. It's very exciting for our community. I'll have to take a camera and share some photos. We will also be spending a day at the Northwest Flower and Garden Show in Seattle. This is a very big and beautiful show and is a highlight of our year. And we can take the light rail to get there. Finally, the soccer season begins March 15th, with the first 2011 match in Seattle! Woohoo!

  9. Ahhh, I learned something new about you; you love soccer, as do we! Of course when we lived in Columbus we were C Crew fans, and still are because Raleigh doesn't have an MLS team. My husband grew up in England with the Premier leagues, played in college and use to coach so we go to all the CArolina games and just love watching...
glad you have things to keep you busy; like moving into a new school-I know those teachers are excited!
