Another Short Stay On Whidbey Island

Tuesday morning we headed to the cabin on Whidbey Island to get a few more jobs done and take advantage of the warm weather .
This was the view of Useless Bay as we came down over the hill on Sunlight Beach Road.↓
The dike along Deer Lagoon is golden with Scotch Broom.
There is a list of jobs to do on the cabin refrigerator, those once or twice a year cleaning and maintenance projects that keep the place clean and in order.  We selected several to do and check off, as well as tending to the yard and garden.

We also had time for some strolling on the beach road and over on the beach.  Eagles were a common sight this trip.
Here's me being useless, after the work was done, on Useless Bay.
The golden hour at sundown on the calm lagoon.

It was a lovely evening and I sat out on the deck until after dark reading. The next morning we started our day on the deck before getting a few more jobs done and then going shopping for some new outdoor furniture.
While shopping we followed a sign to a cute little antique shop where we bought a few treasures and left our money in a drop box on the honor system since no one was about.
We also stopped at Bayview Farm and Garden, of course, and the laburnum walk was in full bloom!

It was very fragrant and buzzing with busy bees in there.

Back at the cabin I finished cleaning up the outdoor furniture and added the new chairs.

In the afternoon I took a walk on the tide flats.  This is why Useless Bay is "useless".  No water at low tide.
We had time to sit and read and enjoy the sunny day before tidying up the cabin and coming home Wednesday evening.
And the garden is looking good.  Tulips done, columbine in profusion. They love to free seed in the sandy soil.

  9. Good gracious! Everything is in full bloom. I love that laburnum tunnel. What an awesome feeling it must have been to walk through it.

It's always good to be occasionally useless.
