Work and Play

We've got a week of work and play ahead of us.

Today we got started on the work.

Tom got the railing installed on the front porch. It was a frustrating project that stretchered over several days as he adapted parts of two railing kits to fit.  Finally, it's done.
While he was doing that, I got started on the window washing project. I could do the outsides of the ones I could reach safely on the low steps of the step ladder.

I got all the gunk out of the tracks of the sliders,
I took the time to clean Tom's nozzle collection that had collected a year's worth of grime and cob webs.

Then I washed all the insides of the windows while Tom washed the outsides of the rest.

We have a lot more windows upstairs, but they will wait for another day. I don't like to wash windows, and Tom usually does it, but this time I helped.

Tomorrow we tackle the pruning of the holly hedge. We're hoping for a cloudy day.

  1. Oh my, there is a down side I see to having a lot of Windows. I've just always enjoyed their beauty. Collections are best enjoyed if they're dusted and clean. I always thought Tom's collection was clever and interesting. Never thought about having to clean it.

  5. You and Tom are constantly working on your lovely home and garden, and it shows. I'm glad I don't have to care for it, but I sure do like the results! :-)

  7. Those railings really look nice and are a great safety feature. Aren't clean windows a treat? Someone needs to invent a Roomba like gadget to automatically clean windows. I'd buy it.

  9. Gosh, your place is beautiful! You spend lots of time and elbow grease making it that way! It sure shows. I should follow suit! Sorry I haven't been by for awhile. Not spending much computer time these days. Glad I popped in today to see your pretty place, all clean and shiny! Take extra special care! Xao

  10. Oh dear... We haven't cleaned our windows in a while and ummm... it does show. Sigh. It's hard though since we have two floors. Your house and garden are so immaculate.

  11. Wow, that's a lot of window washing! And you do it yourself! I'm impressed. We have a son who had a window washing business, and we used to have him do our windows but then he got a job at Boeing, and the windows haven't been washed since. Yikes, It's time!

  12. Oh wait, you're supposed to wash the windows? We leave ours dirty because we're lazy. Um, I mean for environmental reasons. This way the birds don't fly into them and hurt themselves. Yes, that's it, we're protecting the birds.
