This week just completed was one we had been waiting for for months.
On Wednesday we couldn't get any response from the Carpet installer company as to whether they were really arriving on Thursday. We were as ready as we could be, what with still needing a bed to sleep in. Up by 7:00, we got a call about 8:10 that they could be there in about 25 minutes. We were ready when the two man crew arrived and got right to work.
The crew was very efficient and skilled, and by 12:00 they were all done, all cleaned up, and on their way! I was shocked at how fast they were. They had moved furniture around and then back in place. We got our bed made and were ready to start moving everything else back slowly. On Saturday grandson Isaac helped us finish moving and by that afternoon I had all the little things put back in place.
Tom wanted soft, plush carpet. I acquiesced. Now I have to learn to walk on it and I have to not be annoyed by all of the footprints. I do like the color and it is very soft for laying on the floor of our bedroom to do my PT exercises. :-)
Early Friday morning we were up and off to make an 8:15 neurology appointment in Bellevue. Fortunately the traffic wasn't too backed up and we made it with a few minutes to spare.
I had been waiting three months for this appointment to find out more about my possible condition of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalies. Dr. Felt is a motion specialist neurologist. She watched me walk, checked a lot of joints and reflexes, asked a lot of questions, got a good idea of all of the fixed and unfixed damage from arthritis, and because NPH can cause cognitive impairment, gave me a short form cognitive assessment. I passed that!
What we know is still much less than what we don't know, but we will continue with more tests, mostly to eliminate other possible causes of my decline in mobility. I am encouraged that I don't seem to be in cognitive decline. I will contact my other Docs for more assessment on my hip and spine. It will be an ongoing process. Meanwhile I will continue to keep my spirits up. I sank pretty low this week, so making progress helps.
And then there is this beauty.
Yes, on Friday while we were dealing with medical appointments and furniture moving and Jill's car trouble when she was trying to get up into the mountains to lead a big group of Mountaineers on a training weekend, our granddaughter Irene was getting ready for her Junior/Senior Prom. That's Ryan, her date. Aren't they a cute couple! And then there were lots more of them joining in the fun of a special evening.
And now the rain has stopped. By tomorrow afternoon, after the housework and laundry are done, we'll be able to get outside and get back to working in the yard. Even though it's hard now, that always raises my spirits.
Good to hear that the carpet laying went well. It's a big job to move everything and then put it back. I hope they find something to get your motion back to normal.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you had a difficult week. Thank goodness the carpet installers finally arrived and did the job well by the sounds of it. All looks great!!
ReplyDeleteWe had drenching rain again today. It will be too wet to do much outside tomorrow but Tuesday so far looks promising.
Irene is so darn gorgeous and yes, they are a beautiful couple.
ReplyDeleteI love your home office set up and the carpeting looks great!
Sounds like you're getting nice baby steps for some answers to your medical mysteries. Beautiful kids; so funny going to golf after the "stay properly dressed" part. Enjoy your garden! Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteFloors are looking good and has to be a relief that it is done. Don't envy your putting the office back together. We don't realize all the wires till we have to move things.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are a stunning couple. Hope they had a marvelous time.
Irene is just beautiful, looks more like her mother every day. And that carpet looks wonderful! T he news about your mobility issues is also good, in the long run. I think you'll be back to your old self (or some semblance of it) very soon. Congratulations on having turned that corner, :-)
ReplyDeleteSometimes medical issues can seem like a fulltime job. I hope answers and relief will come soon.
ReplyDeleteIrene is stunning indeed.
The carpet looks nice. Isn't it wonderful to have that all out of the way? Enjoy the new fresh look.
Irene is beautiful! And I love your carpet. I know that hardwood floors are supposed to be better, but I'm not a fan even though they're beautiful. I have them and hate them; they're cold, noisy and show every speck of everything that is on them. I hope you get the proper diagnosis and treatment for whatever ails you. My brother-in-law has Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus. He had a stent put in his head to drain the excess fluid and it's a miracle. He could barely walk and seemed to be falling forward all the time. We were terrified for him. He not only can walk normally now, he even cuts his own grass. He had the surgery a year or two ago. He turned 79 yesterday. I wish you well and hope you get the correct diagnosis and treatment soon. Brain surgery is scary, but it was the right thing to do for my brother-in-law. It gave him his life back.
ReplyDeleteWow, those installers were very efficient - clearly they've done it a time or two. I love plush carpets too but I've gone with luxury vinyl planking because I have cats (or rather had cats, down to one now) and rugs hold odors no matter how often they are cleaned.
ReplyDeleteIrene and her date look fantastic, I'm sure they had a wonderful evening.
I hope you get some definitive answers about your mobility. It certainly seems your doctor is being thorough in the testing. Enjoy playing in the dirt!
Oh, how wonderful. Beautiful new carpet and fun photos of beautiful Irene!!! Gigi Hawaii
ReplyDeleteThe new carpet looks so pretty! Just perfect! Irene is absolutely beautiful. I love the picture of her and her date. He is a handsome young man. They do make a good couple. Irene stands out in a crowd with her grace and beauty. Sounds like your doctors appointment went very well. You are such a strong person. I'm pulling for you.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your carpet completion! It is wonderful to move things back into a nice clean space and weed through what is or isn't going back to its "normal" place. Beautiful granddaughter!
ReplyDeleteIrene is a beauty, I bet she had a wonderful time! Your carpet looks great, I had plush in our last home 23 years ago and I did get used to the footprints:)
