We've been taking some time to have a little fun before summer wanes away. Today we went to the Puyallup Farmer's Market.
Puyallup is Tom's home town, about a half hour away, and before urban sprawl it was a farming town. It still is, sort of. It has a large farmers produce, flower and craft market.
We browsed some of the crafts, shopped for some fresh produce, bought a few goodies, and spent a lot of our time enjoying the flowers. Here are just a few.
Dahlias are the stars now, but, Oh, the sunflowers!
We bought a bunch of fresh beets with beet greens, some small crisp cucumbers, and a couple of ears of corn.
We also bought a dozen mini doughnuts hot out of the fryer. I would have devoured them immediately but they were too hot and there was no place to sit, so we ate two when we got back to the car and took the rest home for lunch. We also bought a bag of caramel corn, which we are trying to eat sparingly, but it's hard. We'll probably eat a bunch when we watch the Sounders on TV at 5:00, along with the take and bake pizza Tom has fetched.
It was a beautiful morning and the market was crowded, so I wore out too fast dodging folks, but we had fun. When I got home I arranged my bouquet of sunflowers. :-)
The colour combination of the various bouquets are lovely, and the white one with eucalyptus would be a perfect bride's bouquet. Your sunflowers look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteMini donuts are a favorite here too. Though, unless we go to a fair we don't get them.
That was a good outing before fall work gets busy. That was a very colorful, showy market.
ReplyDeleteWow! Those vendors sure know how to put together stunning bouquets. The coral and white mums with splash of lime green were my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI think I would have been overwhelmed by all the gorgeous flowers, especially all the Dahlias. I like the bouquet you created with the sunflowers and Globe Thistle(?).
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful colours! You are lucky to have such nice places to go and goodies to eat!
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty flowers! The Dahlias are beautiful, but it is hard to top a sunflower!
