A Blue and Green Sunday

Isaac will be 10 on Tuesday.  All ready.  I know.  How did he get so old so fast?

Anyway, we celebrated today because we could.  It's not a work and school day.  It just so happens that while Isaac selected soccer as his birthday theme, the Seattle Seahawks football team were playing today in the first round of the playoffs.  These are two momentous occasions, so we combined them.

We set up our theater seating, put out the game snacks, and got ready for some football.

Most of us are plugged in while we watch, and some of us pay more attention to other screens than the TV screen.
It was a tense game for a while.  It looked like the Redskins from that other Washington had our number when it was 14-0 in their favor in the first quarter.

But by the time we had gritted our teeth, held our breath, occasionally swore and occasionally cheered, all while keeping track of friends' reactions on Facebook, we had reason to celebrate with the final score Seahawks 24- Redskins 14.
Coach Pete Carroll was happy too.  Now we get to do it all over again next weekend.

But for now, it was time to switch to soccer mode and party for the birthday boy.  Some of us actually added or subtracted a layer to go to Sounders Soccer gear. But it's all blue and green anyway, so we're all good.

Time for pizza.

 And then presents.
There was a mix up on the bike that was ordered, a present from the grandparents, so Isaac will have to wait to see more than the photo. The real thing should be here by the end of the week.

Isaac's mom and dad got him a new Sounders rain jacket, with room to grow, and room to layer under it.
Back in the dining room it's time for cake.
Soccer stadium cake, another Jill and Corey creation.
It's good to see there is tifo in the south end.  Gotta have those Big Friendly Flags.
 Happy Birthday to you, Isaac.
Today was a winner!

  1. I am not much of a football fan, but I do pay attention when something begins to happen like the Seahawks becoming contenders for a title. I watched the game off and on and was thrilled when Seattle won! Congratulations, and Happy Birthday to Isaac! :-)
